Xenoblade 2's Rex & Pyra(and Mythra to an extend) are pretty much a shoe-in to be combatants in the upcoming Smash. After playing it, they earned that spot with Shulk(if he's coming back) and others.
Update: They're spirits. Oh well.
Update: Very late but, PYRA AND MYTHRA ARE IN! And Rex to an extend. I got my wish!

I'm personally of the opinion that these two will be DLC in the future, given how recently the game came out.

Wow, this is so beautifully made! ^^ I love how you made it resemble the Smash Switch teaser trailer, only with Rex, and Homura/Pyra in the Splatoon Inklings' place, which I agree, I think it's very likely that they could join the Smash Switch roster! I also love that you even have Rex, and Homura/Pyra holding each other's hands, it's so sweet, by far my favorite part of this drawing! X3

Not sure what their moveset could be, though... I guess they could work as a duo similar to the Ice Climbers...? I dunno... 
By the way, I absolutely ship Rex, and Homura/Pyra, they're so cute together! HomuRex/PyRex for life!

I can make a moveset:
Neutral Special (Anchor Shot): This is a command grab. Press the button to have Rex shoot out his anchor to ensnare fighters. This has a dual purpose: 1. once it connects to someone, Rex will reel them in to deliver a swipe of his blade, 2. Pull back on the control stick once you grab someone to topple them, leaving them stunned. The Anchor Shot could also be used as a regular grab.
Side Special (Sword Bash): Thrust the sword to dash a bit forward, just like Shulk's special, it hurts more at the back. You can charge it to slightly increase your distance.
Up Special (Double Spinning Edge): A combination of Link & Shulk's Up special has Rex perform a massive leap to dole out two powerful swipes.
Down Special (Pyra/Mythra's Blade attack): Pyra can execute one of 3 devastating moves depending on the level. The level steadily increases as you rack up damage and kills. As stated before, to switch to Mythra, press the taunt button. Be warned though, Rex is completely defenseless once he hands the Aegis to his Blade partner, and will not get it back until the attack is done.However, Rex moves a lot faster.
Pyra:
Level 1: Flame Nova- Press and hold so Pyra can gather energy to release a blast of fire. Release it when Pyra is glowing at her brightest.
Level 2: Prominence Revolt
Level 3: Blazing End
Mythra:
Level 1: Ray of Punishment- Press the button have Mythra gather light and condense it into a ball. Press it again to have her throw it downwards in blast of light. Uncharged, it can blind enemies. The longer you charge it, the more powerful.
Level 2: Photon Edge- Mythra will use the Aegis blade to rapidly slash anyone close to Rex. I imagine to be a similar fashion to Cloud's Limit Break version of the Blade Beam.
Level 3: Lightning Buster- Mythra delivers powerful slashes that could potentially launch foes. Has some ending lag, though.
Final Smash:
Pyra: Burning Sword
Mythra: Sacred Arrow
Pyra could switch to Mythra with the taunt button.

I think Anchor Shot's Topple function would translate to tripping people. It would probably have to be balanced by a long startup lag. Rex should do a little extra damage to tripped enemies with all of his attacks.
Prominence Revolt: Hits all the enemies standing on the ground on the same platform as Rex, up to a certain distance, with flame pillars that deal fire damage and knock enemies into the air. Charge up to knock enemies farther, but the damage output remains the same.
Blazing End: Takes a long time to complete, leaving Rex defenseless, but it's very difficult to escape the spinning sword's repeated hits, even with smash DI. Racks up a lot of damage, but doesn't knock enemies back very far. Rapidly tap the special move button to keep the sword spinning even longer, but you might not want to do that if you didn't catch your target!
Blade Combo: If you use only one version of the Aegis to complete each level of Special in order, another, guaranteed hit is added to the end with successively increasing damage. You can even hear Azurda in the background calling off names like Gamma Ray and Mega Explosion! In addition, using two Blade Combos with Pyra and then switching to Mythra for the last one results in a wide-ranged Nuclear Blast!
Burning Sword: Pyra and Rex both grab the hilt of the Aegis Sword and swing upward. If it connects, a pillar of fire appears that reaches a long way straight up, dealing multiple heavy hits and launching enemies far enough to easily get a K.O. at the end...but if that first swing doesn't connect, nothing happens.
Sacred Arrow: Mythra and Rex hold the Aegis Sword high, calling down a series of randomly aimed yellow particle beams from the top of the screen. These do damage on the way down, but the real pain comes from the explosions created when they strike the stage. Red target diamonds appear on the ground where the beams will fall, so if you keep a cool head, it's fairly easy to dodge.
Watch closely, and you'll see Pyra's or Mythra's ether lines light up as long as they have the Smash Ball's aura!

Well, I wanted it to make sense in Smash. And Xenoblade Chronicles 2 quickly became one of my favorite Switch games, so I learned all about it. I couldn't have figured out even this much without the starting point you already wrote.

Still, love the drawing (being only of Rex, and Pyra, obviously XD), and the amount of effort you put into their moveset, and even their Final Smash, that was impressive!

I imagine Rex will do the fighting, and Pyra/Mythra will be in the background similar to the Pokemon Trainer.
