Awesome! It reminds me of the snowstorm we had here in Massachusetts not that long ago; it was such a big surprise and it felt weird to be shivering in the freezing cold in October.
Anyway, this is a really magical photo. Congratulations on the DD! Well deserved!

Thank you so much! Snow in October? Even we in Bohemia don´t have that...

You're very welcome! Yeah, I'm afraid so. But it was a surprise; we in New England don't usually have that. There's the occasional frost, but not much until we hit the Holidays.
You live in Bohemia? Cool! My relatives from my dad's side came from there. They had to bake their bible in a loaf of bread to sneak it here to the US.

Yes! We also found a book recently about Gesko-Americky Zpevnik (don't have the accent marks on my keyboard) and it was published in Chicago, Illinois ages ago. Maybe 1887 or so.
Haha! I guess you do!

Hey, that´s amazing! Full of traditional Czech songs for the American Czechs I guess. I actually study Czech philology at uni so this makes me very happy

Yes, it has a lot of those. And there is a song/poem/hymn in English called 'My Fatherland' which talks about all the valleys and streams, and of Bohemia being "earth's Eden". It really glorifies the land from which they came. I guess the publishers thought that the Czechs coming over here would want some part of their land with them. And for them never to forget their roots.
Good luck with your studies! It must be interesting to learn about the language's etymology and history of development. I like languages myself and I like to try to learn as many obscure (according to standards here) languages as I can. Czech is one of them! Also Romanian, Russian, Turkish, Arabic, Swahili, Welsh, and Irish Gaelic. I'm really weird.

I gues it´s a translation of our anthem which comes from the 19th century. That´s really interesting! And hey - I learn Irish myself Well I´ve learned for a year, how weird is that?
And yes, linguistics is great, especially ethymology. I also love to compare languages, I study translatology as well and it´s really interesting how every culture sees the world in a little different way because of the words it uses

I agree. I also love to learn about different cultures. And you're right about them; the Navajo language is said to paint pictures with their words. For instance, 'I'm hungry' is more like 'Hunger is hurting me.' Cool, huh?

Thank you so much for your lovely comments! I went WT... when I saw all this, wow, you made my day And to answer that question - yes, it is real, no Photoshop, it was a very cold day but it´s still autumn in Bohemia, so the trees were white but there were still yellow leaves everywhere...
