I think this looks awesome! I quite like the sharp black lines and the *almost* lineless style for the elongated mouth (using circular spot markings at the edges was really cool). A little bit of critique though- i could tell this was a comfort zone/lower effort piece for you. There is nothing wrong with that though! It just might take the "wow" factor out of it, but only a little. As much as i enjoyed your creative style choice for bringing shape to the mouth, i feel like a different mouth would have made this piece appear less "lazy" (for lack of better words). A mouth that challenged you more might have made this piece even more interesting than it already is. All in all, though, i still love it and i am happy to see you upload again. Ive always enjoyed your unique style. It feels like a lot of artists on DA draw in the same 5 styles, so discovering your account all those years ago, AND seeing you upload after so long, is a breath of fresh air. I do hope you continue to update, but if not, i completely understand if you cannot or do not want to update often on DA. i feel like artist popularity is very hit or miss on DA unless you draw in more "popular" styles and/or upload a lotta fanart hahaha

Thanks I plan to upload more~
I upload more Art on Mastodon (mastodon.art/Ayior ). I was struggling for years (and still am) to develop the style I really want to have, specifically cause it's so hard to find reference/inspiration for what I want XD After all this time Deviantart just still feels like the best art community and I want to get back into it
And thanks for the long comment!

I would have assumed Amino would have been better for all the hip and "cool" artists lol. I have yet to ever try it out. It is definitely hard to develop your own style when few other artists have a similar style to you that you can reference. I just look at real photos of stuff and then draw it the way /i/ wanna lol

I tried Amino I felt.... ooold.
Like damn.
I just can't write like that
Yeah real photos are the way to go for learning... actually wait no they aren't my classical drawing teacher told us photos are just another interpretation that's not helpful to us and you should either draw from real life or copy master artists - so there's that~

I have a feeling I will feel the same way when/if I try Amino hahaha
Well jeez teacher, guess I will just take my OWN photos of a lion then, because I have lions in my backyard (not). I'll have to respectfully disagree with your teacher there, but he does have a point about how photos are another interpretation. I just don't like copying other artists, but I do like taking inspiration from them and I also like drawing hyper-realistic things then warping them into a style more "comfortable" to me! Besides, copying master artists also means you're copying "another interpretation" that is, arguably, not helpful either. My art teacher had me start off with random pictures and then I developed my own interpretation and visions as I got older whatever works, I guessΒ

Well, the point she was making is that a photo is an interpretation useless to an artist, but when you copy a master artist you learn the technique alongside subject~ So more bang for your buck essentially but yeah I also use photo reference XD
