Description
First, I'm just glad I've finally had the chance to complete a piece since university has started.Secondly, I had planned to have this picture complete by January. It is now almost the end of March. I guess that tells you the rate I'll be updating at sadly during semesters.
Thirdly, I hope you enjoy this work I've put a lot of time in. When I heard Book 2 would be back for April I needed to paint some more Korra fanart, but it turns out we might not get it until September, I don't mind the wait, just thought it would be more festive.
Fourthly, I don't need any pointless comments about skintone. Seriously.
Fifthly, what can I improve on in this painting?

well....fire here looks kinda "stringy",fire is usually softer,and the inside is the brightest and less saturated and the edges are more saturated and orange-ish,you should see abt colour temperature and also using references helps.

What's amazing about this piece is that you can interpret it in two ways: either she is plunging down into the water, or she is rocketing out of it.

To be honest it isn't meant to be her plunging into water but rather a surreal type image where she is in outer space (well that's what I was going for...didn't really have a straight idea of what to do with the background), but how you put it could work!XD

Dude I'd say it's very well done! The curves of the body are quite fluid matching the gestures, the swirling of the elements are akin to Aang in his avatar state (but still have the sense of revamped style with Korra). The water also looks fantastic! The fire looks kind of like seaweed (could have used a bit more red in my opinion, possibly add more of a yellow to her skin when the fire is close to her body, maybe a little white). And with the rocks add a little shadow when they near the skin to give a more 3-D look. That's my only beef with this piece, but I really like the style!

Thanks for the critique, I knew I had some more work to do with shadow and the fire, but I gave up after awhile.

Oh dude definitely! The draw the human form quite well, and it just looks unique , keep it up! And I can understand the hardship of getting shadowing just right, it takes a long time to get right especially after being paranoid about it, but no worries I can see all the hard work you put into each stroke. Good on you, bud.

I think the angle and the proportion here is very interesting, and so are the colors. Although I can't tell whether Korra's about to enter the Avatar State here or she's flying off the top of an arctic volcano. Cool piece, by the way.
