Great stuff. I think the 5 render scene setting is hampering the comic/diary quality in long term. What can be conveyed in three renders is getting five renders. Due to this, it feels like some renders do not add any value. Furthermore, I really feel that the yellowish tint of the lighting is a bit off putting.

Hope you work on these. Best of luck!

I'm glad to hear feedback! As lilash replied to you, the house has lighting that is more 'retro'. Imagine incandescent. Scenes where our growing gal is out and about have much more color-rich lighting! Check out any outside shot.

As for the content, I'm more than happy with a page for each day. In fact, with how Ayyla is growing and only displaying 5 images a month, it's difficult giving an update on things she's stood next to, sat on, worn or other comparisons before she's gotten even BIGGER!

I think you've misunderstood. I am not commenting about the logic of the light being yellow but the effect it is having. I usually never comment on renders because different artists have different styles and different levels of expertise. But in this case, it is so distracting and constant throught the scenes that I had to mention it. Maybe it is a personal choice. But I certainly think that your outside shots are a whole lot better than the house shots.

And I am fine with her being the same height across 5 renders or even more. It's just that the scene loses its momentum by the fifth render. For eg. The first three renders this week were good as something was happening. The fourth render should have been the final render in my opinion, as both render 4 and render 5 are about her digesting the fact that her sister is now taller. Not much is happening with render 5. If you weren't doing this week in week out with a fixed pattern, I am sure you would agree that not all scenes need 5 renders.

Adding to that, the scenes can be 3/4 renders long or even 10 renders long. Each scene has its own needs. What I am saying is to not be limited by the 5-render scene approach as it does no good.

It's interesting hearing a different philosophy on the format and I appreciate it.

From the start, though, I set my sights on making a webcomic that releases once a day on weekdays. Ayyla is keeping a journal, she posts 5 images a 'month'. (For us, it's a week.) Imagine that it's not so much that as a creator, I am rendering a story, but that you are tuning in to see an update on Ayyla's situation. She sets up 5 photos, (some creative liberties taken on my part to obtain good shots) and reports on her situation, giving thoughts/feelings/musings.

The benefit to this as a format is that it's consistent and at the same time, it's fleeting. If you don't like a particular setting or topic, you have a new one next week. Reading the series all at once can make certain things a bit tedious, I'm sure, but I think the series from its inception has been made as a webcomic and experiencing it one page at a time is how it should be considered.

To your point about different formats though, it's not a *bad* idea but it would not work with this posting schedule. Imagine a new 'month' starting on a thursday, the weekend cutting the series off mid-thought? Or a '10 page issue' like you say having a two week run... no change in topic might get boring.

How would the 'alternate' Saturday renders fit in? Sunday 'previews'? I think you have described the series in a 'read it all at once' way and not considered that it is a 'posted daily' webcomic. Oh, and the lighting again, it's not a tint that I do, it is simply the lampshades and incandescent lighting. It's just how this old house is. Ayyla might have to remove the one in her room, though, as she's started to bump her head on it.
