Meh. I think Stannis should have tried to appease and befriend Renly at first. Then have the demon shadow baby kill him later, and leave behind some "evidence" the Lannisters were behind the deed. Then marry off Shireen Baratheon to one of the Tyrell sons, and then Stannis would have 100,000K troops-more than enough to take King's Landing and kill Tywin, as well as cow the North into surrendering.

I don't think the Tyrells would have supported Stannis at all. For 2 reasons: 1: Stannis already has a wife which means Margeary can't become queen. 2: Stannis' wife is a Florent by birth. And the Florents believe they are the rightful rulers of Highgarden. With a Florent as queen, the Tyrells could potentially be kicked out of their home.

Actually, House Florent supported Renly and the Tyrells. Renly even boasted about it to Stannis. The Florents want the Red Keep, not Highgarden.

But when Renly was killed. The Florents were one of the first to switch ides to Stannis. They only supported Renly at first out of fear of losing their holdings.

I see. Still, if Stannis pins the blame for Renly's death on the Lannisters, the Tyrells would support him. Especially if Stannis gets one of the Tyrell sons to marry his daughter. That, and House Florent would be aiming for the Red Keep at that time, not Highgarden.

Also, Loras blames Stannis for Renly's death and wants vengeance against him, so I seriously doubt he'd be ok with working with Stannis.

Not if Stannis puts enough false evidence to implicate the Lannisters. And the leader of the Tyrells is Mace Tyrell, who wouldn't really care about Stannis being king if Stannis gave his daughter's hand in marriage to one of the Tyrell sons.

But the Baratheon dynasty would be ending and the Tyrells would become kings and queens. Which is something I can't see Stannis approving of.
