Description
Well, this here is my entry for #equiraFC 's Contest . with the 3 life stages and the two adult genders. I was aiming for a sort of hyena/piranha, but it drifted towards toad/lionfish. No regrets about the lamprey larvae though. And here's the information we were provided.
Name: Karkas
Blood Type: Pisces
Element: Frenzy
Region(s): City
Rarity: Green
Description:
Karkas is a large animal that seems to lack interest in anything it cannot eat. Walking on stocky finlike legs, these monsters lumber about their environment in constant search of food – be it meat, bones, hooves, rotted or otherwise. The short sharp teeth tear chunks of their feed into smaller bites, though they cannot chew. It is of little difference to them if they swallow hard masses; their stomach acid is incredibly powerful and capable of breaking down almost anything they ingest. Females of the species are usually lean and muscular, but the males are nearly three times heavier due to their nearly obese bodies. Males gorge themselves with fatty foods to bulk up and impress females with their size and ability to maintain a massive weight. This not entirely for show, as the adult males genuinely need their lipid storage for the breeding season – females choose larger males because he will have a much better chance caring for his young. Once mated, females will lay a clutch of 3-8 perfectly round eggs; her mate will then quickly swallow them whole to store them in his stomach. The strong acid in his belly help break down the shells of his young over the period of about two weeks, the infant monsters are underdeveloped but immune to their father’s digestive juices. From that point on, anything the male swallows is broken down in his stomach and eaten by his young, since they lack their own acids. Eating all their parent’s food and growing steadily larger causes the male to use up his fat stores to survive, he will usually resemble the much thinner female by the end of his “pregnancy”. Once the baby monsters grow too large and aggressive in the stomach, the male will literally spit them up – they are considered on their own from this point on and left to fend for themselves.

any specific color rules for these guys? Also how long/heavy is the baby, and how tall/heavy are the adults?
I don't want to just assume anything. I just need to know for making their info sheet. ^^

Well, they're yours now, so you can do whatever you want with them. I'm thinking that the grey and black parts should stay the same colour, and the red parts can be any colour. I think the baby would be around 1 foot and maybe 5-10 ounces (but that may be too big for an intestinal parasite). I think the adult male would be around 6 feet long and 600-800 pound, and, of course, the female is 1/3 as heavy. Feel free to change it to make it work better.

okay, thank you! I like the matte grey, I was hoping they'd all be at least fairly dark normally in base colors. ^^

I agree and disagree, on the basis that less competitors mean its more likely that I win but that would be wrong to tell you not to enter.

Is this based on a Pokemon evolution? Otherwise, it's great!

Not much point; you're only supposed to do one entry to the contest.

the female should have the thick heavy body, so that she can lay large strong eggs, but i suppose it could work the other way, like if the eggs really aren't that big, but the males have some kind of a wrestling thing

The description would imply the eggs could be laid underdeveloped since the male would supply all the nutrients for their development.
