Well the Black zig-zag line coming from the bottom Right, (viewers side) Follow that almost 45 degree-angle up to the top left corner, which i'm guessing this either tells me these building are on a hill or scattered on and around a hill. ''Colona Castillo Chico'' i have no idea what that means could be a location could be the name of the houses or a house? so i'm winging my approach to this fine abstract, Obviously those little Colourful houses, are typical of those Mexican Houses that have a name which i can't quite remember, so lets call them Colour Block Houses, with character, very minimalist but Compact and sturdy.. it's like a long and winding path, wandering up this hill where these Block Houses, colourful and proud stand together underneath that unforgiving sun....i most likely completely wrong but oh well.. i'm still slightly fuzzy..

What a lovely Abstract landscape.

As always, your analysis is on target. You must trust your instincts more.

The political divisions of Mexico City are confusing to outsiders. México City has 16 delegations, and the delegations are further divided into scores of colonies. I live in Colonia Tlalpexco, which means "deep well". Castillo Chico means "little castle" and it is indeed on the side of the hill. You can get vertigo looking at it.

The cinder block houses are in various stages of construction. Over the years people would finish their house and paint it in a bright color. 5 years ago the government began giving away paint to residents and now Colonia Castillo Chico is quite lovely when viewed from afar. Up close, it is a crime and drug infested slum.

Thanks for taking the time to critique. I think of it more as a landscape than an abstract, but that's just my lack of redering skills. This was the only way I could render homage to the stunning view.

You would absolutely love Colonia Tlalpexco! We have 2 flat streets, where all of the businesses are, and the rest of are streets are inclined. I feel like I'm on a Stairmaster half the day. In the US, the law only permits streets with a 15% incline. Here some of the streets are 45%.

One time I brought 2 friends from the city to my studio. We boarded a pirate taxi, a VW Beetle, at the base of the hill, and the driver took us on a Mr. Toad's wild ride up the hill. The look of terror on my friends' faces was priceless as our driver drove us up his favorite shortcuts, narrow steep side streets. They had only been on flat strets before and they were absolutely frightened.

It is almost impossible to describe my daily life in this the remotest outpost of civilization. I don't imagine any Westerner living here and appreciating its charm. Yes, sometimes we don't have water for 2 days, sometimes the power goes out for a couple of hours. That's why we have 55 gallon drums we fill with water, and candles.

Often we are thrust into a previous century, where we are forced to invent and adapt. I have drops for purifying water, and an electric device for heating water in case there is no gas. I have an ice chest and in case the power is out, I buy ice from the local store to keep things cold until the power comes back.

In my bizarre surrogate family we have 3 barbecues and lots of wood, in case there is no gas or electricity. Between us, we have a gun and several large knives. We're not violent people, but at any given moment, society can disintegrate. Without water and power, people can freak out. Nevertheless, I wouldn't trade my weird life for antything.

Very cool -- I get a wonderful sense of place, yet it's almost totally abstract.  I see buildings of painted and unpainted cinderblock, little gardens and flashes of landscape between buildings.  And I hear a lot of music
