When i look at a piece of art i just enjoy looking at. i''l make the most gratifying comment, if i can't think of one then i'll just focus on my favourite part of the Painting. it's colour of course and that Yellow is divine !!

Yellow is my favorite color and I'm out of it. It really limits me.

BTW, thank you for your delicious color analysis you gave on my "Withdrawl" painitng. I was trying for color harmony, 51% blue, 34% red, 17% yellow. You go more in the direction of Kandinsky with your analysis, because he believed the color itself posessed the potential for a spiritual interpretation.

You're most welcome, well, most of your art work really does kick start my emotions, thought patterns immediately and so i do tend to try and comment quick before it ends with a ramble..Oh this was Beautiful. it's as tasty as Candy. and if that yellow was edible, it would've been the first part of the candy for me....Kandinsky is everywhere like Klee, so we all know your great influences Wayne. Maybe that's why, these pieces are so Exquisite.

You make me want to cry. So all those years of studying the Bauhaus shows in my work! At least you see it and tell me. You know the last 20 years of my artistic life have been like wandering in the desert alone, just trying to put into practice what I think I learned. It's so refreshing to have feedback.
And eating that yellow would be like eating a marshmallow chick at Easter.

Ah, well i mean what i say. Wayne, most people got their self righteous heads up their own arses, envy and jealousy always plays into certain factors when it comes to art. they'll not give you any sign that it's intelligent appealing art. so well done.

I never thought of that, but you're absolutely right: for some odd reason artists tend to be self-centered, insecure and envious of other artists. Getting a compliment from a fellow artist is unnatural. I used to have exhibitions in California in an Artist's Village, and I would hang out at my show without revealing it was my work, just to overhear the bitchy comments made by fellow artists about my art.

It was during those days (1998 - 2000) that I developed my 10 second theory. From my observations at exhibitions, an artist will give a fellow artist's work 10 seconds of their attention, before moving on. A corollary is that a non-artist will look at a work for more than 10 seconds. Axiom: no one buys art after looking at it for 10 seconds. Artists don't buy art. I wanted to sell.

It was sad because I would put hours into a painting, only for it to be underappreciated by the residents of Artist's Village. (I wasn't a resident). So from that revelation, I developed a style that I called "Essentialism", a style I still employ to this day.

The objective of Essentialism is to include only the most essential elements in a painting to convey the message. Time spent on the execution should be limited, as time invested in the creation will not be reflected in the time spent appreciating it.

All your continued support and critiques have inspired me to pay it forward. Recently I've been conscious of trying to leave a comment when I fave someone's art. Like you, I try to be specific about why I liked the work. The response is amazing.
