Description My eyes are killing me right now you have no idea...

I love the twins from Superjail. What more can I say? I've loved Cheshire characters for the longest time. Cheshire Cat, Father Vincent, now the Twins. Just the people you see with a grin on their face when they're planning something evil.

The most recent episode of Superjail was twin focused...automatically putting it at my top favorite episode. My biggest d'aw scene was when Alice tried splitting up the twins to help them to escape. They had a brief moment of holding hands and looking all sad and stuff, then when they were actually split up [and by 'split up', I mean pulled away from each other by a few feet], they both let out a very loud, very shrill siren-like cry that forced Alice to put them back together again.

I wondered after that, what might happen if say one of the twins was killed or they were seperated for a long period of time? I'm sure that the one left alive [if it goes by one of their deaths], the other one would be shouting for a very long time until his throat just couldn't take it anymore. If they were split up, they'd both probably break down like this. [Let's just say their teleportation skills were disabled, like in the episode.]

This might become a fanfiction of mine later on, not sure about it yet, though.

That was by far my favorite scene. The whole way they freaked out when pulled apart really said something to me about their closeness. X3 I thought it had to be one of the most adorable moments in Superjail. EVER.
That scream was WIN. The Twins are WIN. And Superjail is WIN. <----- EPIC

I've sort of theorized that if one died then the other one just wouldn't survive.

I had more to say here, but I started writing this comment an hour ago, walked away, and forgot what I was going to say. ;-;

Dude, I will IF...and I'll know if you lie about it...you watch this episode of Superjail. Even if you haven't watched much of it, personally, if you like Twins, I know you'll adore the SJ twins as much as I do. Hell, I'll even put it on next time I hit your place. It's ep. 204 under Superjail under Adult Swim On Demand. I'm basing the fanfic I write to go along with the episode's take on the Twins' past.

Lemme just put the Twins like this...a slightly more evil Hikaru and Kaoru...actually much more. None of the Ouran Twins' antics resulted in blood and death. xD

Wellllllllll, there's a lot of fan based yaoi for the Twins, and it's secretly hinted as a canon with the way they act, especially from this episode. The split up scene is the cutest thing ever, where I based this pic off of.

I guess I am not the only one who obsessively thinks about this, fff. I like whimsical characters in general, and I always found it... kind of original that the Twins are both rather elegant and nerdy at the same time. It's a nice twist. That and I can't really compare them to the idea of a Cheshire cat. I see them more being the embodiment of Gemini in personality and appearance: [link] (It's so perfect.) That and them being the literal representations of 70's Euro-Glitter band glam guys. xD [link]

But back to your picture, while I think your theory is fascinating and I like the metaphor behind it, I don't think it's quite accurate. I think their internal alarm systems go off when they are threatened to be apart, rather then them being a few feet apart setting it off. In Cold Blooded, they moved very freely from each other, even if it was for a common task reconfiguring Jailbot, and in Terrorarium, they were separated by a few feet when stealing the serum and also presenting it to Jared. So, I think their alarm goes off when they themselves think they can't do something together simultaneously.

And if their insides are anything to go by in their fabricated past, they seem to be both organic and machine at the same time, so, it's probably their internal system wigging out of fear. If they were ripped apart suddenly and without preamble, I don't think it would give time for their alarm to go off and their more organic side would probably take over, probably being fear and anguish. Their great fear is probably one living alone or one dying alone. Surely, if one were to die before the other, the other would soon follow with a suicide.

Although, I also don't agree that they are so much one being in two bodies (I used to think that), because while they always do something for a common goal, this episode as well as previous ones obviously show that one can make the decision for both and just the fact that they can use "I" and think for themselves show that they are two different people (with two different voice pitches, at that, fff). I have a feeling they were purposely born to be together as a convenience for them, that way they would be guaranteed a life partner without ever having to search for one and waste time doing so. Their world seems to revolve around the convenience of those who live there, but just taken to a whole new level. However, despite that, they are still people, so their attachment goes past mere societal privileges, logical sense, and into the realm of emotional ties regardless of how ambiguous in nature it is.

But, Hotchick, lol, it seems to have introduced so many more questions than it did provide answers. Just HOW much of that fabricated past was in actuality true? xD What if the Twins aren't part of a Twin society, what if they are princes there, what if, what if, what if... I did like the small things you learn about them though, like the clothes they wear, the souvenirs they collected over the years (one being a 2002 turn of the year glasses, fff), and just everything else that was hinted more than revealed. Got to love those trolls.

And homgawd, do you have messenger? We could probably talk about this nonstop. xD

O.O Wow...I wish I can even match that length of a comment...I think you have reached an achievement on my profile.

Anyway, onto the reply. It's amazing to see someone as devoted into the Twins as you are. I'm rather new into the show as I just got the first season DVD last month as season 2 started up. Pretty much instantly, I fell for the Twins and just how they mess with the Warden and everyone so much. That's where I originally got the perception that they were similar to other devious characters I fell for. I used those examples and not the one I really wanted to, Hikaru and Kaoru [the twins from the anime/manga, Ouran High School Host Club], because I didn't want to seem like I was comparing them immediately to other twins in media. But it seems like almost everytime twins are illustrated, they're always scheming something together.

I have been thinking more of the theories for the picture after reading your comment, and I do agree with you on how they are of their own entities, but also very very close as brothers. Hopefully, I won't have to witness the sadness of one twin losing another and, due to it, taking their own life from the sorrow. I have rewatched the episode and I see what you mean about how the shriek was more like a defense mechanism that was possibly built into their species. Although I still do wonder just how long one would wind up be shrieking for the other to return if, say, on their planet, their story to the inmates were true and they were the last of their kind, but separated by miles. I think that's what I'll do my story on, or at least I was going to until I saw how they conversed at the end with Ozal and revealing the fact they were just traveling abroad. Although I am still wondering about who they really are. Indeed, I'm wondering about how much of their stories are true, and hopefully more will be revealed on these adorable guys later on.

Once again, thank you very much for clearing up a few things for me and leaving such a...mind blowingly well writen and detailed comment. XD I do have AIM, Skype and Steam that's on my dID and info. Messenger never really worked well on my computer, but I'll update it to have my name if it ever decides to work for me. I love talking about my obsessions to anyone who's willing to listen to my rambling. XDDD <3

Oooh, well, you don't have to go through the trouble of responding back in the way that I do. I like to ramble on and on, haa. >_> I love getting any message back, so, do what you see fit, hee hee.

Ahaha, fff, yeah, devoted is a good word for it. I'm on the other end of the spectrum, I'm old time fan. I caught the show by some miracle one night while browsing channels years ago some random day (hardly watch television), and I had lost most of my faith in some good animation, let alone ones on Adult Swim, but the Pilot for SJ was running, and thought to my amusement I would watch it for a bit and revel in my disgust for it. By the time it was finished, I was left quite mindfucked and hollow, in denial that it was actually quite amazing. For a good some months, I researched the show and looked up the sparse fanart it had at the time (dA only had nine hits for it!) and delighted myself in the Pilot and the few resources it had before finally splurging when Season 1 aired. And well, haven't looked back since. <3 I can't say SJ is my main fandom, mainly because there isn't enough substance for it and it's for the lulz, usually, but while Season 2 is airing, I thought I would get back into it again. *-*

I am still a bit unhappy with how different the Warden was in the Pilot versus the rest of the series. He seemed to actually have some control over his own jail, enough that the Twins even were afraid of being killed by him. The power play changed dramatically in season 1 and continuing on into season 2, and well, the Twins just became a lot more interesting characters as it progressed. So, they are definitely my favorites in the show, along with Combaticus and Jared. Although, Alice has been getting a lot more love from me this season, since they have exploring her more that and I find it adorable that the creator of the show voice acts for her, as well as equally amusing, fff.

As for the whole Twins thing, I don't really blame you, since many twins do act in some semblance to them. I don't really like comparing the Twins with other twins in the media simply because I find them more fascinating and cleverly handled compared to others (that and I came from a fandom that ABUSED the concept of twins, a la, Clampverse anything, grr, so, having duplicates and twins constantly just became overused, redundant, and annoying). In fact, if anything, Hotchick was a huge parody on the fact that twins normally have these lucrative backstories and are always the strange, mysterious ones that are devious and blah blah, or just creepy. The Twins, however, are just creepy because that is who they are and for being literal representations of some clusterfuck of aliens, the glam rock movement, and guys. I like that they still retain the whole whimsical kind of personality, but are really hardcore nerdy, Europeanesque, coy, sly, and devious all at once and very well twin like! It makes them unique. They remind me more of a malevolent and more conscious version of the whole Thing 1 and Thing 2 idea from Dr.Seuss.

Anyway, I don't want to be parroting what I said and what you agreed to, but yeah, agreed, and kind of happy I could make you think, hee hee. I find it more fascinating that they ARE still two different people, but ACT almost as one, rather than being two bodies with one soul. Not that the latter isn't an interesting concept in itself, but I just like their dynamic, because they are so incredibly close and yet they are two different people. It just makes you ponder them even more, you know? And I doubt we'll ever see a Twin be killed off, but if we did, I think I would be quite heartbroken. ;;

Oh, so, you are going to do a story based on the AU that their fabricated past is actually true? That is a good venue to try and play with your theory on. c: I have a feeling the alarm is both a way to show that there is something amiss with the situation (like a computer missing one of its components), but also a way to try and find the other one should they ever get separated. Their alarm was heard all the way in the sky, buildings away, so, very possible this theory is plausible.

And yeah, nope, we were trolled big time by them and Karacas and crew, fff. It seems very fitting though, even though it just opened up more questions rather than answered very many. D: All we know now is that they live on a blue-ish planet, their father thing is Ozal, they had a family pet, and that they actually live up to the fact that they are indeed alien foreign exchange student like characters, like they were originally slated to be. I kind of like how the crew snuck that in, kept them sly and devious, but still showed how touching their bond is at the same time? The episode was handled very well in balance of both the nice and horrible aspects of the Twins, fff.

I think we are all wondering how they are, fff, but the creators said they were going to stretch that out, and with this episode, they sure did not reveal much, ff. I like that though, since the mystery of the show is what makes it also fascinating, just like the Twins themselves.

And no problem, the least an old timey fan like me can do. And I am glad you liked it even if I blew your mind, fff, thanks for the sweet compliments! And so, can I just add you to one of those messengers then? I just don't want to barge in on you or something, ha ha. And well, I mainly use msn messenger since it was my first and also the only one I can send doodles over, but I don't mind hopping on the others. c:

I love talking about my obsessions too, and well, I love to discuss and just listen to anybody who is interesting, and you seem like the perfect person for it, regardless if it is Twinscentric or not. xD

I'm rewatching the episode now in fact. I'm getting VERY close to being able to quote it word for word. And I'm also writing up a quick story to sort of follow up with the picture. I'm spending all of tonight and my creative energy on it. xP

Definitely. Just a few feet of separation seems to possibly even bring them pain, as if they were being...quite literally torn apart. I adore them soooo much...I've waited like crazy for a twin focused episode, and am so happy it came out so early in the season. ^-^

I got REALLY confused, because of their whole explaination of what Ozal did, and then the end where it turns out they were just stubborn teens [maybe]. So...is their race still alive? Are they, like, the princes of their planet? o.O More twin focused episodes need to be made...>.<;

FFFFF. It is merely my humble duty.

EXACTLY THIS. It's basically down to "how much was true?" now. We know that they really ARE aliens, and that their planet looks like they show in their story, but that's just about it. We don't know if they're really members of an all-identical race of Twin-liens, or what.

Azuanta In reply to Pirka [2011-04-27 07:15:59 +0000 UTC]

Originally, I thought they were time travelers with the way they would teleport everywhere, not initially aliens. Then when they invented Combaticus, I thought more that they weren't of the Earth, as if the way they spoke and acted weren't enough to convince me. They seemed pretty convincing with their story, though a lot of what they do and say aren't the most truthful. But maybe I'm looking too much into it...I tend to get really passionate and 'all knowing' when it comes to stuff I get obsessed with. xD

Same here, about the passionate desire for all information. XD

I agree. Their fear in the episode seemed undoubtedly real, especially knowing that they barely, if EVER, break their cool. I think that they really are deathly afraid of the consequences if they get caught, even if they're mocking towards their dad at the end.

I think that scene might have been foreshadowing possibly Ozal showing up in later episodes. If anything, I want to see if maybe the Warden gets sent to their planet, although it might be a redo of Time Police.
