I can't believe I'm saying this but we did it! We were able to raise the money for my friend's expenses! We've given her an opportunity to go back home!

Luisa still has a long way to go, but together we were able to help her take a first step! And it's all thanks to you guys! I couldn't even be grateful enough for your help and support!

I'll reupload this soon with screenshots of each receipt (I was redirecting the money periodically from my paypal account to the website she opened the donation, so I'm going to compile them in one pic!)

We ended up raising a bit more than her goal, so as I previously said, I'm donating the remaining ammount to covid causes and blm causes as well!! I'll update you guys on that later! I'll also keep on working on the rest of the headshot thank you rewards!

About my friend's situation:

My friend Luisa is an exchange student from colombia and she came to Brazil through a scholarship in my university, but since the pandemic caused classes to be suspended and everyone is quarantined, she is currently stuck here, in a foreign country, all alone, and was simply waiting for her flight back to colombia which was due in july. But since Colombia closed borders with Brazil because of the pandemic, her flight was cancelled.

So the only way she can go back home is through an humanitarian flight (the only ones allowed at the moment). But that means she has to pay for all the expenses. Including transport from Mariana (our college town) to São Paulo (the flights are only taking off from there), the flight, her hotel and food expenses for 15 days ( she has to be isolated in Bogota before she can actually leave to her hometown) and then pay for transport from Bogota to her hometown. But she cannot afford all the expenses on her own, so she's here in Brazil for god knows how long.

I've been very worried about her ever since I left college to go to my own hometown about 2 months ago when quarantine started, and I can only imagine how much more terrifying it is to be going through everything were going being all alone in another country.

I figured setting up an easier and more familiar way of donating was better than leaving a link of the original donation website. So I created a ko-fi account as a meaning of supporting my friend in her situation! I'm willing to offer simple traditional headshot sketches like these for the donations! (I must admit they'll likely come in lined paper bc I'm running out of blank paper)
