If Eclipse is stablished as the only website interface, a lot of people are going to leave deviantART (possibly me included). I want people to be able to choose and not be forced into something they don't like. Even if you like it and the change doesn't affect you, fine, use it at your own will. Not everyone wants to or is willing to. People shouldn't be forced into something they don't like, that doesn't seem like it's useful or benefits them in anyway. Tbh, I think it's much worse than the current layout.I've been on dA for literally half my life. This is where I found a community, where I made friends, where I found a family. This is my own world. This is where I live, with the people I know and love. And it's all about to be ruined. Everyone will be separated. Specially with everything that's going on around the world, deviantART is to many of us in quarantine, deviantART is our safe place. This change is the same thing as declaring death to the website itself to me. It's like seeing my life fall apart right before my eyes, and I didn't even get to have a word on it.

Even if I end up going to another platform, it won't be the same. All my friends, my family, this community, it's here. And soon it might not be anymore.

The Beginning of the EndSo, most of you know by now that Eclipse is being forced on us by the end of next month. And I don't know about you, but I am seriously unhappy about this. Why? Let me explain.
Eclipse isn't finished.
The first, and one of the major concerns I have. It's not finished. We don't have groups, forums, the dAmn network isn't up there yet. All we have are our personal pages and deviation pages, more or less. I get that it can be unfinished while in beta stage, after all, that's what beta testing is for. Working together, developing together, listening to requests of the users of the site and working out the kinks. But pushing it as a default onto everyone in this stage? What's the point of retiring the old site if we're still getting the old pages on half of the site anyway? It wouldn't have been such a big issue to retire the old site if the new one was actually finished and functional, and not a building block project that could collapse any moment.

I use DA on mobile, so eclipse is very much inevitable on here, but I do think they should keep the original green, it's giving it's originality and it just looks nice and honestly functions way better than eclipse. If they had the original for the mobile app, a 100% would use it, eclipse is very much trash, and when I was using it to upload, it would crash on me, so it's a big problem.

I somehow understand why dA wants to make eclipse permanent to a certain extent, but my problem is, why do they want to make it the only option now when it has so many glitches and problems??? It's not even ready so why???

Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I don't know, it's really dumb that they want to make eclipse permanent, da isn't doing a good job when it comes to functions and monitoring, like other websites, but their updates are better

The Sound Of Silence- DA StatementSo Eclipse is Coming
I'd like to organize a proactive even to show DA the possible results of a permanent Eclipse change-over. Instead of deactivating your accounts for good, or indefinitely boycotting the site, I'd like to make a Statement of Silence for those Users against Eclipse. Starting May 1st, I will not be active on Deviantart. I will not submit new deviations, journals or even visit the site for 3 Days time. From May 1st to May 3rd. I ask all all other Users who wish to keep old Deviantart to join me in this statement of silence.
Perhaps the abrupt halt and slow down of site traffic will show DA team members the devastating effects this could have on their audiences they cater to. They have failed to listen when we speak out... perhaps they will listen to The Sound Of Silence.

If you don't like Eclipse, stop giving DA money! End your Core. Ask for a Core refund. Call you bank and stop automatic withdrawals, chargeback or anything else that can be used to stop giving DA money. That is the only way to stop this!

Your comment would be a perfect argument if the only issue with eclipse was change. Eclipse is unusable. It crashed on me twice 2 days ago when I tried it again, so I had to stop using it. I used it around when I first made my account and I couldn't upload anything. The UI itself is terrible and causes 90% of the problems. When this thing has been in beta for well over a year and is still unusable, it's alarming when DA wants everyone to use this by next month. If they can't make the layout stable or at least resemble on how it's supposed to work in a year, then there's no way they're finishing this in a month. People also have problems with the fact that it's trying to copy Artstation. Again your argument is perfect, but mostly for the people who just don't like change. Eclipse seems more like a downgrade than an upgrade.

I had one bug so far, so I can share that it isn't stable here and there, yes.
But, I have hope that it's going to be fine with the right feedback.

keep the old deviantart site!
i've been on deviantart for nearly 7 years and it breaks my heart that they are changing everything. even though i don't post that much, i still enjoy browsing the website. i don't want the last thing about old deviantart that still remains to be taken from us. this might not do anything? but i still wanna spread it and bring it to everyone's attention!!
i will not be online from May 1 to 3 because of this ♥ i hope everyone is okay during quarantine, please stay safe mentioned this in my new journal. i've been on this site since i was 10 years old and it would break my heart if they removed old deviantart. kinda sucks that deviantart isn't listening to its userbase that has been on for so long.

I totally agree with you. Eclipse is really, really clunky as an interface and I'm frustrated that they want to force people into using it. I'll definitely leave if we're going to have to use it even though I'm not really attached to DA... Pony art is still pretty popular here so I'm worried on where I can post my pretty horses whenever I'm in the mood lol.

I've been thinking about the same thing. None of the other platforms I've considered would be as good as dA for the MLP community. And for the time being that's all I got honestly :') I guess the most likely to be into MLP still would be amino? Since I guess it's more of a fandom inclined platform, with like "communities" for specific fandoms/interests I guess. But even so, I have no idea of what I'll do.

Can you please explain what you mean by opinion being correct? If you mean that Eclipse's UI is better and this person is just wrong, then you're probably mistaken. That's like Yandere Dev saying his game should only used for gaming computers because it's a game, and the gaming computers can't handle the mess that it is. This is an artist site, the UI shouldn't make it this difficult to use. The site shouldn't crash on me 2 times in a day when I want to change my icon. The site should actually be functional. Before you say it's my laptop, my laptop has been able to run multiple games with high quality graphics without crashing and mostly without having the fan have to kick on. So this really has no reason to crash when I want to change something about my profile.
Also it is extremely rude to say that, and most people aren't going to take you seriously. I'm just letting you know that now. Your witty comebacks will only take you so far.

I'm going to say this now, it doesn't look like they have been doing any work on it. I used it when it was still new, and it was terrible. I couldn't upload anything. I tried using it again 2 days ago and it crashed twice. I know it's not my laptop because it can run things like Fer.al and Artstation just fine. Fer.al being a game with high quality graphics, not only that but the settings were on max and the fan didn't have to kick on. hawthornss can handle change, but it shouldn't be forced on those who don't want it. Everyone has the right to leave. If DA wants to be like Artstation, then why not everyone just move to Artstation? Not only that but from what I have seen and heard, the people who work on this site aren't nice. When the community suggested to make the text smaller on eclipse to make it easier to read, they made it a lot larger instead. Don't sit there and be passive aggressive to people who are just speaking the truth. Besides, DA has changed a lot and none of that resulted in backlash like this. You can like eclipse, but a lot of people don't. If eclipse has been in beta for well over a year and is still terrible, and DA wants it out by next month, AND they're going to make everyone use it? Exactly. I know a lot of people on this site can be stupid, but change like this wouldn't result in as much backlash if the change was good. This change has made the site almost impossible to use for a lot of users. Again, if artists want Artstation they can just use Artstation. That at least actually works.

You just got onto hawthornss for saying artists have the right to leave. You complained about people leaving over this Why are you suddenly using that as an argument? You're being inconsistent here, man.
Also it is forced, because most artists have nowhere to go. Most of the artists on here are young and aren't allowed to access other sites to post their art on. Eclipse will not longer be optional, I want to make that clear. If you make something optional and then take that away for no good reason then it's kind of forced, especially when majority of the users didn't use or like the mode in the first place.
