In short: a long fanfic where an evil cult tries to resurrect Nightmare Moon, but the spell fails, and NMM gets resurrected as a harmless, good-natured filly that gets adopted by Twilight.

It's the most beautiful pony fanfic I've ever read, and I've read nearly a hundred fanfics - 80% of them suck. Give it a read, you WILL enjoy it. Just prepare lots of tissue paper, because it's so touching.
