Yeah I've been here for a really long time.  I joined here when I was in high school and I've seen things...!  THINGS!  
Some of the people in this picture either left dA and moved to other sites, some decided to pursue other aspects of their lives and few are still around or some are just not active.

It's been a long time, I think this one took me 3 months to do but I did not worked on this everyday though.

Well back then I was aiming for it. Then for some reason as soon as I posted it they took out the DD system for a while and because of that I never get to get a DD on this particular work. 5 months of work in this.

I did this kind of thing for a while now. Here, these are the earlier ones.

That really isn't fair. I have seen DD's like that with less characters and less detailed too. You hand drew all of that for the project? I'm guessing so and it took a lot of work and should be recognized as so. -sigh-

It's a shame how so many deserving pictures get missed :C

I drew this from scratch but I did everything digitally. This picture was a combination of 4 group pictures because my comp could not handle all of them at once.

If I can get DD more often then it would be great but I couldn't even get "senior member" status because they needed reasons and be nominated to the admins.

Yeah I think to get all the good stuff like that we always need people nominating us. That goes the same for DDs as well. Of course they also allow self promotion but come on, I don't really have the guts to go up front saying "Hey, I totally deserved to be a senior member and I deserve DDs."

Why must we depend on others to determine what we deserve? That should be up to whoever is giving the privileged, not a bunch of others.

I wouldn't have the guts too. But I would have the guts to explain your seniorship and the amount or effort you put into your artwork. You can give examples. Those project are VERY difficult to do. I've tried myself and I just couldn't even come close! I mean, I might not be a good person to compare it too but you should stand up for yourself because you are worth it. If I could I would nominate you 1000 times. Nobody seems to understand the amount of effort that goes into pictures. Some people assume that just because they aren't Leonardo they aren't trying and don't deserve anything which is wrong and stereotypical.

Well for senior member status the pre-req is helping the community or skillful or something along that line. I think there are FAQs for that.

Basically kind of get the feeling that if people you know like to lurk around the forums then there is a good chance he/she would nominate you for the part if you're nice enough or they feel like it. Though still up to the DA staff to choose if we deserve such title.

There are some people that deserves it and some don't. Same goes to those who became admins. They may be doing their jobs but sometimes I feel they just want to be admins just so to get popularity.

It is true people will change once they became more than what they were. Distant from those you used to know and eventually forgetting about who you are or feeling like they are better now and don't need friends like before. Or simply too busy for average people.

That is part of the reason why I stopped with that Hundred Project thing. People just want to be in for the sake of being in.

Most of them I don't even talk to or they haven't been around in ages. If anything, sometimes I feel it's more of my own self-satisfaction or what I wish to see while in DA for this kind of project.

At first I made it for friends and who I talk to and it expand to larger number with no real connections.

Hmm, that sounds logical. If that were the case for me, I'd stop doing it too.

I want to make one with only my projects Oc's because we have like 50 of them xDD

Maybe you can reduce the numbers to close friends. Although 100 is pretty cool, I'm sure 25 would still look amazing. Maybe you can even do multiple characters per friend. That way it would be more sentimental.

It is true when I made it I thought about "Oh I can get another DD with this" but then with DD being taken down I wasn't able to make it.

I do envy those artists who can get DDs every so often or those who have insane amount of views and popularity but I know they reach where they are by either having godly skills or connections or actually did self-promotion.

Through connections is probably the lowest method I can think of.

Well there is no problem with expecting a dA for somthing you worked ever so hard one :3 Those drawing (2005 especially) really was DD worthy, like said :/

Actually I've seen a lot of artist become popular through connections. "Oh my gosh she is X's best friend!" so then people begin to cherish X's best friend even if her art was effortless and her skills were on the lowest level. Godly artists seem to attract other godly artists and then they get their support and they both become even more popular! Or at least that is what I've noticed (I know I'm repeating myself. My memory is so bad because I use to bang my head against walls violently (I probably already said that too) so I forget terms I used easily. But that shouldn't be an excuse.

I envy them too. Even though envy isn't good, who could help it? We all want their talent, we all want to be popular like them and get DD's. Or maybe just a small part of us, somewhere on the inside.

When I see better artists I don't want their talent though. It would mean I would be like them in style which that deviants away from my own. If I want to get a DD it would be because MY style and not a duplication of someone else's.

I'm certain if I pull another Hundred Project like I did in 2005 I will be able to get my DD for sure. At least I feel that would be deserving one if done right.

Well if you look at it that way. But I don't think the talent comes with the entire style, just the knowledge of tips and tricks of the program that you can use to improve yours. I've almost copied a thousand other artists styles. In the end though I know I will be unhappy because it's very difficult to copy theirs perfectly. And if you had the skill to do that then I would think that they would have the skill to better their own style.

I need to be happy with mine. And stick with it

I recently heard an amazing quote; "A good artist is a bad artist who didn't give up." I realized it was so true. So I guess I have to build ;w; We all have time.

But I completely understand.

How could you not? Anyone could see that it would take a tremendous amount of effort/time to pull it off. I would really be discouraged if it didn't :/ That would be very unfair.

I've always wondered how you can recommend someones artwork to receive a DD. It's probably some special perk for premium members/maybe seniors.

I know programs will make our lives a lot easier with all the special effects and filters. Some artists would still prefer hand-drawn everything though. I usually just get really lazy and unwilling to start up programs to mess with special effects and make a background.

Yes =w= It helps dodge the difficult task of creating a good background now that you mention it.

I need to avoid laziness! Although it wouldn't hurt to know them, I should stick doing everything by hand. I'll improve better, and I'll feel more accomplished/proud of my artwork if it is completed looking like a realistic screenshot.

Background does makes people feel like being lazy. Programs can do it so much faster and better than hand drawn sometimes.
It'd be easier if I remember how I did those amazing effects.
