Description
I was asked many times, which tool and how many pencils I used up to get to this point. So today I decided take a photo of my little tool box with all the simple tools I need. That includes different tortillons, eraser, pencils from 5H to 8B and pencil extension.
I always sharpen all pencils like this before starting a new drawing and my most used pencil is 2B.
Hmm, about how fast I use them up. Well, 4 months ago all pencils on the photo were almost new.
Don't worry, I've already bought new pencils

oh, that's how I learned it and I've always seen it, so that you don't wear down the point, but i guess to each his own

That seems less precise, though. I can't imagine doing a small area with the side of a tortillion, especially if it's up against an area you want to keep white.

I'm assuming either you sharpen with a blade or you have a //really// whack pencil sharpener.

what are the white pencils?
And i presume that you dont use a "normal" pencil sharpener for these XD so do you use a knife?

I don't think they are pencils, but tissues rolled in a pen form which you use to blend out the pencils to make shadows. Some uses these other people uses regular tissues. Or that's what I think they are, anyone is free to correct me if I'm wrong

This blew my mind. i only draw with one pencil.............this really shows between the pro and amuture

Actually, a pro can create a spectrum of values by changing the pressure with one pencil, which also saves time opposed to constantly switching; however, there are limits to the range of values with a HB pencil, for instance, and having a variety of pencils does make drawing easier. Unlike *B-AGT, I use an F, 2H, and Ebony pencil (or 9B, if I don't have one). And instead of tortillions, I use a chamois and kneaded eraser. Being a pro is less about the tools used and more about mastering an approach. Unfortunately, I've only really been drawing for the past two years, and I rarely draw at all, so I am nothing of the sort.

I initially thought that was directed at *B-GAT. XD I'm flattered that you think so, but I'd have to kindly disagree--to an extent. While it's true that for the time I've put into drawing and painting, I've received quite a bit back, I also happened to end up with the perfect AP Studio Art instructor for lifting me off the ground. Unfortunately, I do not get along with the 2D side of the art department at my university, so it's difficult to keep motivated. But that's why I appreciate comments like yours: with how little I draw as is, they help me not give up entirely.
