I think my favourite things in this photo are the lighting, the posing, and the wardrobe.
Lighting: the contrast brings focus to the intensity in the gaze.
Posing: tension and uncertainty clearly conveyed.
Wardrobe: I don't know if it was intentional, but I enjoy that they both have grid patterns on their clothes. Like a subtle reference to their connection.
