The Horned King, hated movies. How he got convinced to watch some princess movies with Maleficent...was beyond him. Maybe it was the way she looked at him, the way she spoke...or maybe because it was her. The Dark Fairy explained that even though the movies were about...well, princesses, they'd be fun to watch. He dreaded what she considered to be "fun". Soon enough, they were watching a movie called...what was it...oh yes, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves". Why, in the name of the Black Cauldron, would the title of the movie mention the minediggers when they had little to do with the main character, was beyond him. Gah, just hearing the princess' high-pitched voice made him involuntarily flinch now and then. From the corner of his eye, he noticed that Maleficent also cringed at the sound as she ate a piece of popcorn. The Horned King had honestly considered strangling Creeper when the green goblin had come in wearing a pink crown with the words "Princess" in blue cursive on his head and carrying two bags of the strange puffy food. However, the popcorn was...not bad. Odd, but not bad. The crown sat on the table before them, Creeper having been sent off to attend to other duties.
There was no major incident, other than Maleficent and the Horned King holding back a few laughs at the antics of the stupid dwarves and the witch's failed attempts. Good grief, what in the world was that old crone thinking? However, both of them froze when "Prince Charming" kissed Snow White and she somehow rose to life. According to Maleficent, that's EXACTLY how Princess Aurora had been brought back to life after her defeat. As the movie drew to a close, The Horned King knew that Maleficent was a bit tense after the scene of Snow White's resurrection...so he decided to do something he never thought he'd do.
"...Maleficent."
"Yes?" She turned to regard him, her bright green eyes watching him in curiosity. The Horned King mentally steeled himself before responding.
"...There's some irony in this movie." Her eyebrows rose, a small frown of uncertainty on her red lips.
"Oh? Would you care to elaborate?" Okay...here goes nothing. The Horned King relaxed on the couch in preparation. No backing out now. He closed his glowing red eyes, appearing limp on the couch. Maleficent crooked an eyebrow in confusion, watching carefully.
"The girl in the movie...Snow White...she had to DIE in order to find her true love and become a princess. In other words, 'Prince Stupid' had to kiss a CORPSE and all of a sudden..." The Horned King popped upright on his feet, grabbed the crown and placed it haphazardly on his hooded head. Trying to mimic the blissfully happy expression of Snow White, he even took a handful of the popcorn and flung it into the air like confetti before turning to regard a stunned Maleficent.
"We've got a Princess!" Ugh...he never wanted to speak like that again. That pitch...UGH. Thank the Black Cauldron that no-one else would bear witness to this. Especially Creeper. Maleficent was silent, her mouth open in shock at such a display. It was quiet for a moment...before Maleficent began laughing. It was a musical laughter and she was fully enjoying the hilarity he had brought her. Sitting back on the couch, The Horned King watched her for a brief moment before he couldn't help but join in with his own deep laughter. Inwardly, he was glad that his stupid antics had brightened the atmosphere of the room. While he hated doing that sort of thing...he didn't regret it.
Maleficent was right...this was fun.
