well, its not that there were many female characters in general in the cartoons of that time, it was the atalanta complex (1 token female in the team) and its still used.

yes, and yet they still use it a lot. some exapmles in naruto there is 1 female per team, there was 1 female in akatsuki, in bleach there was 1 female in the espada hollows, in kingdom hearts in ord 13 there was one 1 female also.... its tiresome and way too cliche.
