Description
This guy was a fighter. I was cleaning out my old fishtank in my tub, then I see this spider on the side. I don't like spiders. So I take the shower head and wash it down the drain. Then I continue for about a minute of continuous running water..all going down the drain. I came back to actually GO to the bathroom a while later, and this is what I find. The spider somehow made it back of the drain and halfway down the tub before locking itself in this droplet. So naturally I whipped out my camera.
enjoy.

This is really cool, you know what i like about your gallery? The fact that you photograph the little things that you dont really think about, the things that you just do and have always seen, like in this picture for example, who hasnt killed a spider or washed one down the bath, or in spent everyone who smokes knows that it can kill them, yet they still do it till their spent I really love youre work, youre really inspirational

It is better to hate this spider more than any other, because it is a very deadly spider. When it bites the venom can decay skin, and the spider is a Brown Recluse. More information [link]

actually, I don't know if that is one. On the pics on the website you gave me, the legs get much skinnier on the bottom, the recluse isn't really see-through like this one, and the body shape/markings are different. But I know there are probably variations of the spider, so I'm still being careful if I see ones like this, and ESPECIALLY if I see ones that lookd exactly like the pictures on that website.

That spider was just a baby female, but still dangerous. Most the smaller ones just have a small mark on the head. On the female it is light and hard to see on a baby, but the mark will be the shape of a violin on it's head. This picture of a female will look a little more like yours but it is an adult, and probly close to 2 inches across. [link]
As you can see the mark on the head is not that well noticed, like the male. This is the mark you should look for [link] , but for me I don't plan on getting that close, because they are fast, and like to stay in places where they will not be bothered, like on the bottom of furniture, or your aquarium.

this is so incredably gross and charming at the same time. im fascinated. i adore the composure - superb job btw. my only crit would be to crop the bottoma tad to reduce the negative space and possibly darken it? i dont know if that would improve or destroy it though. i love it

the bottom of the photo has ALWAYS bothered me. Especially recently. I feel it's too late to change it with all the favs and whatnot, it wouldn't be the same photo all these people like. It's an older photo, when I wasn't as aware of space and composition. I've been thinking about uploading an updated version a lot lately, but I don't know. Thanks for the critique, and I'm glad someone else thinks the same about it as I do. Most people I ask about it are like "it adds to the photo"...but how? It makes the spider centered. I usually hate when the main focus is centered when there's not much else in the photo. ANyway, this is a long comment. Thanks.

i agree, about the changing it thing, i have a few that are the same way. however since you have learned from it already than does it really matter? i mean you can always alter it for contests and such - which you should enter.... and i agree about the centering thing - drives me crazy!

Amazing shot - my guess is that if you wanted to do exactly that it would not work And what's more, you shot it perfectly. The focus is right on target, the light and the spider's shadow add a lot of depth and the droplets are shining all over the place. Thanks for sharing
