Description Same, but different, but still same, less sad version: fav.me/dbeoys6

Just finished The Witcher series, and unlike a lot of people, I absolutely love the first two books. Essi's story left me with feels hard to describe...

I can't resist using this tarot frame, it just makes everything better, it's scientifically proven.

This is a very pretty portrait of Essi! Actually, this is the first time I see someone tackling this character and you did just fine, you also did justice to the character's nickname "Little Eye".

BTW, I also loved the first two book in the series, more than the following novels to be honest, and "The Bounds of Reason" and "A Little Sacrifice" are my favorite short stories. If you ever decide to tackle any other of the characters seen only in The Witcher novels (such as Borch, Téa and Véa or Milva), I'd be delighted to see your interpretation of them!

Thank you! I'm glad you think so!
Have you seen the entries of the latest gwent art contest by the way? There were quite a lot Essi drawings and also some Téa and Véa.  I also love The Bounds of Reason and I've thought about drawing the Zerrikanians for the contest...maybe one day (:

You are welcome and thanks for telling me about the Gwent art contest. I've been browsing the contest's submissions and there is a real abundance of lovely Witcher art there, including many Essi drawings like you mentioned (and your own Essi would have been right at home there if you ask me). Funny enough, there seems to be more Véa than Téa (I can hardly separate the two of them in my mind) among the submissions, but unfortunately no Milva... Well, I should not really complain considering that the submissions cover a wide range of characters and creatures from the series, including quite a few that were only mentioned in the novels, but not seen in the games. And now I look forward to seeing your take on the two Zerrikanians in case you decide to participate in the next context with a drawing of Téa and Véa.

Thank you again (:!
The contest was about creating art of a character that hasn't got a card at the Gwent game yet, that's why there's no Milva art, since she's got an official card (vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/wi… ).

Oh, I hadn't realized the contest was for characters that don't have their card yet, thanks for pointing that out!

A nice portrait of Essi. The story A Little Sacrifice always had a special place in my heart with its sad beauty although it is often neglected in behalf of the other stories.

I don't know about most people, but I preferred the short stories to the novels, I think Sapkowskie's writing is better in them, he seems to get a little lost in the novels.

Well, I may have exaggerated with the "most people" part, but I have read several comments and recomendations where people suggested to skip the first two books, since they're not important to understand the story and overall not too interesting. I was pretty surprised since I enjoyed the short stories way more.

Oh, yeah, me too, like I said, I think Sapkowky's just a better short story writer (could be the bad translation, though, the translators changed after the first two books).

Gorgerous portrait. Exactly the way I imagined her. Essi's story is somehow really unknown hence the beauty of it. Thanks for bringing back memories! (:
