Description This is my first attempt at a 'fully functioning' mechanical USB device.

Its currently got a 250GB (but it can have up to 2TB) 2.5" external drive enclosed in a Comb jointed Macassar walnut chassis. Its made up of well over 140 individual parts and it has around 12 moving cogs/gears. When the drive is plugged into the USB, the cogs start to slowly rotate & continue too until either the device is ejected or you turn off the motion with the concealed switch.

As it was the first, it took around 80-100 hours to complete & I still class it very much as a prototype as opposed to a 'final' product.

I've already started work on the MK2 which is going to be something really special!

I'm hoping to include: A 'Ticking' motion rather than permanent rotating action. The gears on the MK2 will only operate then the drive is 'active' & there will be many other moving part's as well as the cogs/gears etc

Here is a video of the hard drive working [link]
