Before I read your explanation, I saw it as a metaphor for mental health issues and what a tricky balance it is to strike.

Which is exactly why I don't write explanations below the majority of my drawings. I know why I drew the picture; if I wanted to explain the emotions or situations, I'd write a story or an essay about it. I'm an artist, though... I interpret these things with images. Images aren't bound by the rules of language...so why bind them with a description or an explanation? There's no wrong or right, here...just what you feel, what you see. Kudos, man...see it how you see it, and let it be that.

I'm new to doing things professionally (just a student now). I am going to be working with rapidograph pens myself... I am not sure I understand the necessity for a high priced refillable pen, honestly.

No real necessity for the pens; it's all about what you like. Me? I'm kind of an OCD control freak when it comes to art, and I've found rapidographs give me the most control and precision of anything I've tried. Besides that, with proper care and cleaning, they'll last virtually forever.

Yeah, I heard that. I've got a set, plus cleaner and such.
I'm kind of afraid to use them though, 'cause I heard they're so sensitive a pen (with the proper cleaning and such.)
I hope that they're worth the hype my one 2D teacher put up about them. A $30 pen better last forever!

This must have taken an incredibly long time to in ink. At first when I looked I thought it might be graphite. It reminds of how one's self-perceptions might become warped on the way to falling asleep . It hearkens back to the original surrealist, Hieronymous Bosch .

My kind of drawing. I love drawing plants growing out of people's heads. Very well done. The shading and the detail is almost surreal, and I love the man's expression.
