Daz is free...
But it's almost impossible to do something without buying lot of things.

Poser is not free, but it's a lot of free stuffs.

...Instead of buying models, I choose to buy morphs.

I don'y know a whole lot about any that isn't Maya or 3Ds MAX. I suck at making mesh. I'm looking for something that will have all the mesh there and will me to alter the mesh (kinda like character creation on Oblivion or Skyrim, but with more accurate adjustments), allowing me to change eye shape, ear shape, height, skin color (like to blue, green etc), Race (including "alien"races). I'm probably hoping for something that'll cost $$$ but i can no longer afford to buy high-end programs lol

What is the difference between models and morphs? (when i think of morph i think of the little thinger from Disney's Treasure Planet xD)

ok.
The basic Daz is free but with few possibilities to edit shapes.

It's the reason why some people created "morphs" and sell them on the Daz store (as private creator the customers can sell their own products as characters, clothes, props, etc).

The morphs are kind of plugins allowing to modify the shapes.

Here you can see some morphs for the head (on the left of the picture):

It exists a lot of different morphs, for the head, the torso, the legs, etc.
You can buy complete characters (models) too, but as I like to make my own things I prefer to buy packs of morphs.
(it exists several different "basic" characters in Daz. Not always compatible... I use Genesis because it's versatile and maybe the best to let you creating your own models with morphs)

Daz is a kind of "generic" software. First to make renders with lights and decors, but with the possibility to modify and create a little bit your own stuffs.

For the skins, you can bought lot of characters on the Daz store and use their skins or you can find some less expensive stuffs on other websites that are compatible with the Daz characters

And you can edit the skins on gimp (free and open source soft) or Photoshop and re-import them in Daz.

Daz is more or less compatible with Poser (which is not free and as I know less versatile as Daz, but it's more free stuffs for Poser), so some people use the twice depending on what they want to do and export from one to the other.

You can also export and import from Daz to Blender (blender si FREE but not so easy to use).

I started to work with Daz because I wouldn't spend a lot of money buying Poser and a lot of time to learn how to use Blender.
But at the end... I think I spent money buying some stupid stuffs I don't use a lot.
I think it's possible to make cool things with Daz if you are ok to spend around 100 - 150 $ (morphs, characters, and hair).
If you want clothes, you can find some free here and there on internet, same for some stuffs.
But you need to be easy about how to manage the "daz Library" where the stuffs are dispatched and you must know what basic character you use and if the stuffs are compatible with it.
(Daz works a little bit like a database: for one character it takes skin here and there, morphs here and there, pose overthere, etc.  So it needs to know the good paths to find all the things)

I tried to create a morph in Daz... the result was only a combination of the morphs I used to make my character.
It's possible to create morphs through Hexagon and next import them in Daz, but I never tried that.
I prefer to use my body morphs an head morphs.

Oh wow, such a detailed reply (didn't expect that lol), Thanks!

The character i use the most is Genesis 2 Female (the Gen 2 male is broke O.o)

If there are any links to Morphs, characters and what not, that you prefer, please link them to me (if you want that is), via note or reply. I spent 3 hours looking at some stuff on the DAZ site store but i'm unsure what is top quality, waste of money or best bang for my buck.

I will "watch" you, that way i can take a look of some of your tuts and hints when i need to.

Thanks for the confidence build, friend!

Once we know how to upload and how to find the stuffs in Daz, the most of the pain is done.
