The "frilled retriever" is a hybrid created by Professor Burns, January 17, [REDACTED], by artificially combining the DNA of Canis lupus familiaris (golden retriever) with Chlamydoselachus anguineus (frilled shark). This hybrid is the second successful attempt to combine a water-breathing creature with an air-breathing creature.
Chlamy-Canis retains the general size and shape of Canis lupus familiaris (golden) with long fur ranging from pale yellow to a rusty reddish-brown. It has a large head of the Chlamydoselachus anguineus that is brown in coloration, as well at the long tail and tail fins. There is a large canid-like nose that is black in color.
Chlamy-Canis is a very friendly and docile creature, unlikely to attack or behave in aggressive displays with humans or other creatures. Despite this, it is carnivorous, dining on small fish and with a heavy preference for squid. Tests have found that it will refuse commercial foods designed for domestic dogs and appears unable to properly chew. Chlamy-Canis is highly intelligent and responsive, eagerly obeying commands and effectively completing tasks. Due to its friendly and passive nature, it has been excluded from being used for combat in Project [REDACTED], but can be effectively used for other tasks such as locating and guiding individuals, delivering and retrieving items and packages, and carrying packs of tools and medical supplies on its back.
It enjoys being in the water but does not require water for survival. It has gills located behind the frill of its neck, granting it the ability to breathe underwater, and shows no preference or signs of complications for salt or freshwater.
This hybrid poses only a minor danger to people, solely due to its numerous sharp teeth and inability to fully close its mouth. Though unlikely to bite, it is not unusual for it to accidentally snag clothing or materials on its protruding teeth. Special protective muzzles have been designed by Professor Rackam to place over the mouth.
Chlamy-Canis has been given a score of 10 in utility due to its intelligence and eagerness to assist. Highly trainable, it has proven useful for all current projects. Several specimens are being kept at all sites and locations.
