I walked into the King’s throne room to see he had been expecting me. A table was set with tea although I dare not to drink it. Not after the true king’s death. “Good morning your Majesty. I’m pleased to make council with you” I said insincerely. “My time is short and my patience runs thin so speak quickly bard.” I heard a hint of anger through his words though it was drowned out by the charismatic front he put on. “Why institute an army? The sage had been just fine protecting us. Furthermore why chain her behind bars? She was a hero to this kingdom.” “The era of heroes is OVER!” he exclaimed. “Military empowerment is the only way to survive in this world. Nations across the globe could come to conquer our small island at any moment. We must prepare for the worst.” “We were safer with the barrier! No one could get within 10 meters of the island without being pushed away by hurricane level winds.” “GUARDS” the king shouted “Have him hung for treason!” Sensing my dire situation I ran as quick as I could past the guards. I ran home and grabbed my alchemy, herbalist, and cartography kits. I jammed them in their cases and threw them in a satchel. I then gathered many books and research documents and crammed them into a backpack. Then I grabbed the bag and satchel and ran for the high lands.
