i used vine charcoal to draw the base of the image and acrylic paint for the darks

Gesso is a primer you use to put on a surface before you paint it. Most canvases come pre-prime'd but you still have to paint a layer of gesso, google gesso and you'll see

yeah her bod is all funky, fun stuff that way haha...I used charcoal, acrylic, gesso, be on the look out for the oil wash. (posting right about now)
