So, Fowyin and I are doing a collaboration, we decided to design characters and draw them together in à final drawing. We are basically designing ourselves as fantasy characters with cool powers. I’m not sure if this collab will ever happen, considering Fowyin has barely started, but if it does I’ll post an update that we’re starting the drawing. But, seriously, this final design sheet took me 20 and a half hours, plus about four hours designing her on paper. I think Fowyin is about two hours in, probably less. I’m not saying you have to spend a fuck ton of hours on it for it to be good, I’m just saying that in the time this took me she could totally be done. This was actually a thing that happened, where I had finished the turnaround and coloring but I was like, “well, fowyin probably hasn’t made any progress since the last time I checked, might as well add in some of my traditional sketches I did and update their designs.” Then I finished tracing in my traditional sketches, but Fowyin still hadn’t worked on hers at all so I thought, “might as well spend a bunch of hours shading the sketches since it’s not like there’s a time limit. I’m gonna leave the turnaround in flats just for color sampling though.” Still no progress and I was like, “well, that purple looks a little strange being just behind the butterfly, I’ll add a simple geometric background to some of the other sketches in similar purple tones just for some consistency and flare.” Then I asked her if she made any progress and she said “no,” so I was like, “might as well add some color dodge to the picture xD”. At this point I literally don’t think there’s anything else I can do and I REALLY just need to call it done at this point. Fowyin has probably not made progress, but whatever. I’ll call her tomorrow or whenever she’s free and make sure she works on it

ok, that was a long ass first paragraph. ABOUT THE CHARACTER:
obvi, her name is Bahfev since she’s just a slightly aged up version of me. Her power is that she can conjure these fire-butterflies like in the picture, and they set things on fire. There are two interesting drawbacks I came up with for this. One, they light things on fire, which is cool and useful, but she can’t put them out without using normal fire extinguishing methods. Two, these butterflies aren’t sentient, but the can die. And when the butterflies die, it physically hurts/injures her. (Or me, lol, I might interchange the pronouns since she is just me but fantasy). Her personality is literally just mine, and I won’t explain it since I don’t know how well I can accurately characterize myself. Just, whatever she does is what I would do. She fights close range with her knives. The weapon i based them on is called a glaive, but I shortened the handle so it’s kind of a hybrid weapon now. She can go longer range by throwing them but will have to retrieve them. I imagine at some point if this was a story that she would attach a butterfly to them so she could throw them farther and get them back easily. She can also fight at whatever range with setting people on fire with butterflies, but it’s not a super effective weapon mostly since they’re so small. I guess since she can fight at all ranges it might not have been the best idea since we could have had one of us be long range and the other short range, but this is just how things turned out in the design. I don’t think she’s an over powered fighter, just like, really good but not really good enough to solve huge plot issues easily should this become a story. I might edit this description one Fowyin makes her character. I don’t really have a backstory, because obvi, I’m me so I feel a little strange coming up with a backstory for someone who is actually me. People react to events and develop differently with different childhoods and pasts, so logically it would only make sense for her to have a similar backstory to me, but I’ve had a really good and SUPER AVERAGE life so far which wouldn’t make sense for a fantasy world and is just kinda boring tbh. So for now she remains backstory-less. We also don’t really have a setting or story since it’s just for the designs and character art, so this is really all I have to say.
