Personality:

In many ways, Stripes is your typical eager young martial artist, always looking to improve herself, and always looking for a good challenge. Every fight is a new opportunity to learn something, both about herself and her opponent. While she tries to uphold herself to a certain sense of honor and politeness, her naivety and impulsiveness can sometimes clash with these ideals. Combining this with her lack of knowledge outside of anything involving her training, may make her come off as idiotic sometimes. Though, she actually picks up on new concepts quite quickly, and possesses a certain wisdom born out of simplicity. Often she’ll see very straightforward and effective answers that others might miss.

Generally, Stripes is fairly easy to get along with as long as you don’t mind her outgoing nature. While she’s generally friendly and possesses a willingness to help others, she also firmly believes in self improvement, and isn’t willing to help anyone who isn’t willing to put in an effort to help themselves. What’s perhaps most important to her is that each and every person is in control of their own lives and that potential inside each and every individual should never be taken away or disrespected.

Abridged history:

Dropped off an orphanage due to mysterious circumstances, a young tiger girl never really quite fit in, while there were quite a few species of children in the orphanage, she was the only beastmin of any variety, eventually just taking on the nickname everyone called her, Stripes. That’s not to say her caretakers or the other children treated her poorly, just a bit of uneasiness in how to treat a growing beastmin and worrying if she was ever going to be adopted. This turned out to be a moot point as during one of Stripes many outings that were absolutely not allowed by the orphanage, she came across a secluded dojo in the wilderness. After spying on a few classes, she proceeded to forcibly insert herself amongst the mostly young adult students. Brazenly she told the dojo master “I live here now.”

To the great amusement of the dojo master and despite the protesting of the other students, Stripes was accepted and proceeded to learn the way of martial arts, never really being officially “adopted” by any one person, though the master and even eventually the other students came around to being a sort of caretaker to her amongst her training. The martial arts they were taught mostly resembled a shaolin style of kung fu, though the master always believed that his students should be taking lessons from all kinds of fighting styles. Over the years Stripes would grow both her technique and physical power, even beyond the already impressive physical feats of her species. The dojo master always tried to strengthen not only Stripes’s body and mind, but her spirit as well. And while her simplistic nature meant she didn’t always understand his lessons, he believes this very nature may just pave the way for the young tiger to reach new heights…

One day, the dojo master vanished, though not to too much shock from the students. They knew how their master worked, and sure enough, he had left behind a message, telling his students that as their final lesson, they should leave the dojo and seek him out, and in doing so, see the world, meet new people, and grow their hearts and minds in doing so. Eager as always to take on her master’s test, Stripes set out in search of her master…even if she has no idea where she’s going.

Abilities:

-Stripes is an expert in hand to hand combat, her style mostly resembling that of the tiger style (duh) in that she prefers fierce strikes with both closed and open handed attacks, though she is somewhat capable of using the more flexible dragon style, which is what her master used and is a more balanced style overall.

-Stripes is able to harness the energy of her soul, but rather than using this energy for magic as many casters do, she combines this energy with her physical stamina and is able to unleash this power in the form of long range energy projectiles and short range extensions of her body to increase damage and disrupt the flow of her opponent’s soul energy, which can in particular be a detriment to magic users. Because she needs to use her physical stamina as part of this process however, she has to be careful not to tire herself.

-The Beastmin felines are all fast and agile, but Stripes is even moreso, able to move blistering speeds and perform expert acrobatic feats with ease.

-Stripes also processes enhanced senses, which again, common for her species, but as was part of her training, became heightened even further, to the point were fighting without sight was regular practice

-Through a combination of meditation and careful breathing exercises, Stripes is able to restore her own energy, and even physically heal herself slightly, though this requires intense concentration and near perfect internal spirit control on Stripes’s part. This process can also remove negative effects on Stripes, both physical and magical.

And another fantasy setting (that still has to be named...) character is locked down! Stripes is...it's weird. She was both easier and more difficult than I originally thought she would be to both design and draw. I'm not quite sure how to explain it. Like, yeah characters with patterns like this are tricky, but I also did my best to kind of simplify what I was trying to go for? Whatever the case, I'm pretty proud with how this turned out. The reference itself is a little wordier than normal I feel like, but at the same time, there were some parts of her design I just wanted to point out and make super duper apparent. Also gave myself an out in that she doesn't have to be PERFECTLY consistent all the time. Also, while Fex and Cola  existed a long time ago because I came up with them during a college project, Stripes is relatively recent! Stripes is also very blatantly based on a type of D&D character that I've always wanted to play, I've actually gotten people telling me that Fex and Cola feel like D&D ideas, and while I can definitively say they are not...Stripes absolutely is. Or at least, that's kind of where she came from.
