And in case you haven't noticed these bases are free domain given you don't claim ownership. That's how sprites work, that's how they've always worked. The moment a sprite sheet is completed and posted that means its free to use, unless stated other wise by the creator. Not to mention these things are all over google as well, so deal with it.

You're the one who sounds more hypocritical since you're acting like some sort of copyright activist yet fail to realize you lack any credibility in your claims. The reason why is because you neglected the FACT maplestory sprites are by Nexon first.
Any reproduction/pose in their style would give them rights to it. Why do you think sprite websites like pixeljoint want full customs? Why do you think comic genesis only accepts sprite comics that are fully custom?
