Description
Hi guys, I came up with another crazy project that I very well might never finish: make a big influence map of all tv series, books, comic books, feature films and games that heavily influenced me as an artist since I was a little kid. The way I want to do this is by depicting a few of my favorite characters from said influence in my own drawing style and tag on the year it came into my life. Sometimes this will be when said movie/series/game/etc came out, sometimes many years later. Some of the influences will be very obscure others very broadly known. Why do this? Because it seems like great fun! Let's see how far I can get on with this!#01 The Girl from Tomorrow
The first one is a pretty obscure one. An early nineties Australian youth series called The Girl From Tomorrow (Wiki it if you're curious

The time capsule is a rhombicuboctahedron, by the way, not a dodecahedron. In Blender, making a rhombicuboctahedron is a simple one-click operation.

In Blender User Preferences, Add-ons, enable an add-on called "Add Mesh: Extra Objects"
Then click Add, Mesh, Math Function, Regular Solid.
The Regular solids options panel then appears at the bottom left side of Blender.
Click Custom, Rhombicuboctahedron.
After that you can take a nice time travel vacation to the 30th century where the people are all nice and everything is peaceful. (But be careful to avoid a guy named Silverthorn.)

Omigod, Girl From Tomorrow artwork? This is rarer than time travel in the real world! But seriously, fans of this series are pretty few and far between, so artwork is predictably even more uncommon. Thank you and well done!
...I don't suppose you happened to see another 90s Aussie favourite of mine, Halfway Across the Galaxy and Turn Left? This and that were two of my most favourite shows from that era of my childhood. ^^
(and I have both shows - along with a lot of other cheesy 80s and 90s kid show faves - on DVD)

I also loved this show. (and its sequel). Seeing this fan art I actually get the themetune playing in my head
Great tribute.
There was quite a few cool Australian kids sci-fis thinking about it.

AWESOMESAUCE! I saw this on BBC in 1991/92, it was an amazing time travel series!
Actually, I'm a little stunned that anybody really remembers it now. I mean, it's out on DVD now (and I had to get it! XD), but it's still a pretty niche series - aimed at us who were tweens (maybe young teens) at that time when it was broadcast (I was 9-10).
I always kinda wanted to have a time capsule like Alana's. Either that, or a TARDIS, natch.

Yes! Her three iconic moles should be on her left cheek! How could I have missed those! How very observant of you! And kudos for knowing and loving the show. I wonder if many Americans were exposed to this Australian show though, I mean, in the netherlands it was the VARA who bought transmission rights and exposed our generation of sci-fi-loving Dutchies to it...

Girl from Tomorrow! NO WAY! It played in Canada too. We used to watch it, and I remember my Mom liking it particularly. My parents (and subsequently we kids) were always big sci-fi buffs.

Wow! I'm so jealous! My mom and brother think all sci-fi and fantasy is silly and childish so I was always very much alone in my sci-fi addiction while growing up.
