Description Pennywise is my all time favorite horror character, so I thought it was fun to see the different adaptations of the clown.

IT - 1986: Pennywise the dancing clown is in the book described to be wearing a silver suite with orange buttons and a blue tie. The clown is also described to have red hair and to have friendly eyes and a friendly voice too. Pennywise is a shapeshifting entity that sleeps for 27 years.

IT - 1990: In the TV-series Pennywise is wearing colorful clothing with a yellow suit and a blue and purple striped sleeves. The TV-series version does have red hair as in the book, as well as orange buttons on the outfit, but does not wear a tie.

WOH - 1998: This is the Bollywood version of “IT” loosely based on the book. Here the clown changes its outfit throughout the series, and instead of being an entity, Pennywise is an evil spirit that sleeps for 30 years.

IT - 2017: In the recent adaptation of the book, Pennywise is wearing a faded silver outfit, a little closer to the book, as well as orange buttons. However the movie adaptation of Pennywise has orange hair and also doesn’t wear a tie.

I need more illustrations of Bollywood Pennywise, just in general. It's so hard to come across the miniseries itself, and the three other variants; Book, Curry and Skarsgard, all have so much fanart on here. I say that it's time Indian Pennywise (Rupeewise?) gets the recognition, and the fanart, he deserves!

From what I've read of reviews of the show, Bollywood Pennywise isn't that interesting as the other inerpretation of Pennywise
but I would also love to see more art for Bollywood-wise.

Oh no, I'm not talking about the plot. I just mean the design. I genuinely just think he looks pretty cool. I've seen clips and obviously I don't speak Hindi.

Aaah, yeah true the design isn't something special but it does stand out compared to the other designs.

Here's something I (at the time of writing) literally only just remembered; have you seen the French cover for IT? I've had the picture saved for ages and only just remembered it. He wears shorts and a trenchcoat, I believe.

I've never seen the French cover and had to look it up, and I really like the outfit
they gave Penny on the cover. The clown looks like a hoboclown, I like that.

Yeah, I found the cover a few years ago and loved it, hoboclown is right; it's a really cool outfit to me. Can't believe I forgot about it for a while, second I remembered I just had to bring it up.

Bakhtak In reply to Greppellio [2019-09-13 15:12:47 +0000 UTC]

To me as well, I like the outfit of hoboclowns in generally, not for any specifc reason beside I like the look of it.
Haha it happens XD

Greppellio In reply to Bakhtak [2019-09-08 21:40:57 +0000 UTC]

Precisely. I can't put my finger on why I like it as much as I do. I mean, it's a clown. Woohoo, call the media. But I just....do, for some reason, really love that depiction.

Sometimes even an outfit of a character or just a hairstyle can make you like the character for no reaosn,
so it's fair.

Are you serious? That sounds right and true, but weird and stupid at the same time. It feels strange.

Bakhtak In reply to Greppellio [2019-09-13 20:38:26 +0000 UTC]

Yup, at least that's the case for me sometimes XD
It really does.

Greppellio In reply to Bakhtak [2019-09-13 20:53:56 +0000 UTC]

I regularly have trouble explaining why I like a character's design, as the Rupeewise conversation can attest. In general there are so many things I like but don't know why.

Also, I just looked at the French It cover again, and as much as I adore Hoboclown Pennywise...what's going on there? It's clearly the Georgie scene, with the drain and the paper boat, but why is he above the drain? Georgie's arm is clearly in the process of being eaten, but It is apparently above ground taunting him?

Also I said this before, but I really like that one strip about Mother's Day. Heavy but something I identify with.

Bakhtak In reply to Greppellio [2019-09-14 20:46:44 +0000 UTC]

I feel the same, but I mean, if you like then you like and that's that.
It doens't need some big explanation as to why.

Yeah I don't think the illustrator read the original work when they made it XD
But it still looks nice.

Thank you so, I'm happy you do, it means a lot.

Greppellio In reply to Bakhtak [2019-09-14 21:11:13 +0000 UTC]

I always feel like I need to provide some big explanation for basically anything.

The CĄ cover looks like somebody described the scene poorly. And then that poor description got lost in translation somewhere, before a half-blind man who didn't speak either language had to type it out on a near-empty typewriter to provide to the illustrator.

It's a little strange how wrong it is, be my point. But it does look pretty cool, so I suppose it worked out.

I found it by accident and I was just sort of stunned, I had to....I guess thank you for it? I'm not sure if I should feel happy that that "means a lot" though.

Bakhtak In reply to Greppellio [2019-09-15 17:40:50 +0000 UTC]

You don't always have to.

Now I want to see the cover for that one too, just to see how bad it is XD

That's true, as long as it works.

Ah, I guess it's my pleasure then, and well your compliment made me happy so it did mean a lot to me.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Greppellio In reply to Bakhtak [2019-09-15 17:59:26 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but I tend to feel like I have to, for whatever reason, explain X.

I am glad my compliment made you happy, that's really great.

Bakhtak In reply to Greppellio [2019-09-29 20:34:47 +0000 UTC]

If it works for you, then that's what matters as long as it doesn't stress you out.

Yeah ^^

Greppellio In reply to Bakhtak [2019-09-29 22:51:37 +0000 UTC]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Bakhtak In reply to Greppellio [2019-10-01 16:39:18 +0000 UTC]

Ah sorry, I meant more as in if it works for you to need to have a reason to like a character
then you do you.

Greppellio In reply to Bakhtak [2019-10-01 16:49:17 +0000 UTC]

Nah, it doesn't work for me. It's just this annoying thing I have where I'm always trying to justify liking something.

The Pennywise from India is actually a short dude than the Tim Curry one. Months back, I checked out WOH before it was taken down by youtube and he was short. Though, yeah, it was a good experience to see a different version of IT.
I like the creepy opening titles of WOH.

Huh I had no idea the Indian version was short,
I couldn't really tell since I haven't seen the movie myself but that is a fun fact XD

Which is further evidence that Bollywood has trouble with original ideas that aren’t strictly historical or religious. Where is the Indian Steven King?
