So I'm getting very annoyed that a lot of fans in the horror/slasher fandom (mainly young people) 'preach' about how bad Freddy is because he's this and that. Mainly poiting out that he's a pedo.And of course people are free to dislike a character for whatever reason,
and obviously pedos are the worst and should just be erased from existence.
But I feel like Freddy is getting way too much hate solely based on that fact, more hate than other slasher characters.
And the thing is, that in the OG 80's movie he was MEANT to be a pedo, but they scrapped that.
So in the movie, he's a childkiller, not a pedo, they added that part of his character in the remake version, and from what I know and have seen, people like the OG Freddy more than the remake one.
But people are still giving him hate for that, all while they love and worship all the other slasher killers, who are just as bad as Freddy, if not worse, and who also in off-script was meant to be something else.
And this is pretty much way of saying: "Hey, this character you like is just as bad as this character you hate, so give them the same treatment."

I'm reminded of an episode of Rocky and Bullwinkle in which Boris Badenov got into a struggle with Fearless Leader over a hat that grants supreme intelligence to whoever wears it. The narrator was commenting on their scuffle and asked, "Who will win?" Then Boris and Leader both said, "Who cares? We're both bad guys!"

Jason it didn't matter about what they did they are all killers and they is what matters. Then Freddy had to say something that completely hurt his boyfriend's feels along with Micheal.

Honestly, the who is the worst game could go on forever if you wanted it to and sometimes you do not even have to use scrapped ideas\spin-offs when what happens in canon (or at least a version of the canon if it was based off a book first) is staring you right in the face.
John Kramer--kidnapped and imprisoned a small child for no apparent reason except as one last taunt to one of the test takers in the likely event of him getting killed out of revenge for (mostly indirectly) allowing their wife to die at the hands of his mentally unstable apprentice (and the sequels make it worse; you had all this foresight to set up multiple revenge schemes in the event of Hoffman 1. blackmailing Amanda into sabotaging her own test via killing the surgeon so John would not find out she caused his wife to have a miscarriage [which he likely already knew!] 2. violently escape law enforcement multiple times for being a worse Jigsaw [at least some of John's survivors managed to get out of their test alive mostly in one piece; with Hoffman, you would be lucky to still have both of your arms by the time you got out...if you weren't killed by a bullshit "team building" test that failed to let you know it was one by having the Billy Puppet literally say things that indicate that this is a survival of the fittest type of test] and 3. murdering Jill when she was just fulfilling her dead husband's final wish, yet you couldn't be bothered to put a stop to all of this while you still had the ability to call people out directly instead of taking the 13 Reasons Why approach and leaving a bunch of tapes for your apprentices to listen to long after you died? Everyone who was either killed or traumatized from that point onward is on you!)
Hannibal Lecter--for book exclusive shit, he attempted to brainwash Clarice into being his sister (which failed) and depending on how you choose to view the outcome of that last\next to last chapter where they hook up and\or what Hannibal fanfics you decide to read afterwards, Clarice falling for him may not have been one hundred percent her choice in the matter. For shit that happened in both the books and movies, he literally drove a man to commit suicide in his jail cell. Granted, the guy was a creepy asshole toward Clarice (aside from Barney, Crawford, Will [who she has never even met in canon as far as I know], the guy she dated in Silence of the Lambs, and [just barely] Hannibal, what man doesn't act like a creepy asshole to her?), but does that really make Lecter causing him to swallow his own tongue and bleed out ok? And for the Prequel\AU TV series where he's gay for Will now, it makes his canon betrayal so much worse by not only having him quite literally stab Will in the back, but also murder their sort-of adopted daughter right in front of him (after manipulating her into nearly killing someone herself) and tries to make it look like Will did it in order to delay his own capture (or at least that's what it looks like from the clips I saw on YouTube; never saw the series and not sure if I even should even though I think all three seasons are available at the library on campus). Also, his cruel actions apparently somehow made Frederick "You had one fucking job!" Chilton look sympathetic, how the fuck did he manage to do that?
Pinhead--In the first chapter Scarlet Gospels (which was as far as I got in that book, in part because I had to return it to the library [newer books that are featured upfront have to be returned sooner unless you want to pay a fine {which I did cause I did not know that}] and in part because it was so WTF that I did not know if I should continue), when cornering some people who were trying to either kill him with a ritual or escape him, he ended up somehow impregnating one of the women in the group (did not even touch her, just more or less said, "Now you're pregnant.") and she dies giving birth to some reptilian girl that ends up eating the corpses of the rebels on Pinhead's command. And if you want to go into spin-off bullshit, he does so many horrible things (some of them also done by Freddy, I might add) as Elliot after switching places with Kirsty in the comics and it hurt some fans of Elliot a lot since he was supposed to be the good side of Pinhead yet he is doing all this vile shit.

Binge-watched the entire Saw series with my boyfriend in preparation for Jigsaw a couple of years ago (well, I say watched, but I was hiding my eyes during more than half of the death traps because I do not like gore) and in the third film as John is dying, he plays a tape that basically says, "You shouldn't have killed me because your wife will die the moment I do and I have your daughter locked up and I'm the only one who knows where she is." The daughter was shown to have been rescued two movies later (one of the policemen\detectives [might have been Hoffman, but it has been awhile since I watched it] was carrying her), but that still was not a good or even smart thing to do (especially since her dad gets shot dead by the cops who think he is an accomplice before he can act on that information). And him not intervening with Hoffman's mission to become the next Jigsaw while he had the chance was also bullshit: he, Amanda, Jill, the woman operating on him in the third film, that woman's husband, and a shit load of police officers and FBI Agents would have had a better chance of surviving if he had either called Hoffman out directly or killed him himself.
For the Hannibal Lecter franchise, I have not read all the books (only Silence, and I was mostly half-listening to an audio book) or seen the TV series, but I have seen Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal and I've read some fanfiction (and some snippets of academic essays [while hunting for sources on a research project about villains]) from people who have read Hannibal, particularly that one chapter that ALWAYS gets talked about when discussing the book version of Hannibal, and when looked at with a either a critical eye or if you are just an author that decided to write a deconstructive fanfic of the Hannibal\Clarice pairing instead of just another lemon-fic where they are happy and in love, that chapter takes a somewhat dark turn.
For the TV series, I am basically just going off of what I see in video clips that appear in either music videos or crack vids as well as how the people who have watched it react. I may pick up the series myself if it actually is at the library just to make sure I did not make any mistakes.
I read the first (few, I cannot remember if it all happened in one chapter or not) chapter(s) of the Scarlet Gospels and the Pinhead that appears there is more like the one from the films than the original incarnation from Hellbound Heart (where he's androgynous and not the lead cenobite); I still have not finished the book and may be hesitant to do so because of the weird shit that happened in that one chapter. For the comic, there is an acquaintance of mine on DeviantArt who has read the comics and she has expressed distaste at what the Boom! comics have done to Elliot\Pinhead; I forget what all she said he did, but I remember at one point he sexually assaults someone related to him (either his sister or his daughter). So yeah, big yikes.
For Slappy the Dummy, I watched the episode adaptation of Bride of the Living Dummy where Slappy outright says in the climax of the episode that he wants to marry an eight-year-old girl instead of her (also alive and equally psychotic) doll and since he apparently equates "marriage" with "slavery," it makes his interactions with his other victims (especially the female ones) worse since you cannot help but think what he may have asked of them if they had given up on trying to beat him and agreed to being his slave just so that he would stop causing them to get in trouble with their parents.

I think the most amazing thing of this is of Jason having a point. Their are equally bad, despite what people say. I thought at first Freddy and Michael were being, "Oh my God did Jason say something that makes sense" or something.
Oh yes the infamous just...it's been a while since I've been in a Friday The 13th mood. If I recall but I don't know if it's official yet I'm reading the comments. Yeah in part 3 they hint it in the film that Jason supposedly raped the character of Chris. But it's something that's just....it's something. Reading from this good thing it was kept out. Because that would of been something else. Especially I don't wanna sound stupid. The idea of Jason raping someone might not make sense. I'm not trying to sound mean or anything...it's just the man isn't fully into the whole sex thing if you recall.

On the main topic I see your point. I never really thought of, or thought more in depth. But now I recall I've seen people who don't like Freddy or call him nasty. Yeah hypocritical espiecally loving characters like Ghostface or even Michael Myers. Basically your on point. It's just something that didn't came into my mind, even though I guess I saw the whole, "Freddy is nasty" thing as...he's just nasty. While it's amazing I forget that Michael raped his own niece in Halloween 6....I forgot about it and that's an old canon but....yeah.
Okay this made me laugh now. Really I guess I'll add Billy from the original Black Christmas because it's hinted he probably raped his sister but it's still unknown. Yet Freddy is considered nasty. Especially I assumed Michael was gonna say Freddy had sex with a kid.
