Fierce Primal and Proud stands he.A sketch that started in oc and transferred over to an 11x14 piece of Bristol. Sketch itself is roughly 8x10" and took 4 or 5 hours to detail in. The scanner did a number on it and kinda chewed on the background and fur detail especially, but if you are interested in seeing the original, it may well show up in the 2006 Anthrocon Art Show
. Also debating whether to do a painted version of this sketch or not...what ya guys think?Sorry for the long time with no posts, have been working on a lot of real media work..and if I can decent scans/photos of them..I shall post them of course

Absolutely gorgeous work. I love how the piece is in black and white, personally. But I'd love to see a color version of it too. Many kudos to you for having the patience of putting so much detail into your artwork.

That is still beautiful detail in the fur and the markings. i also really like the shape you chose for the background.
can i crit? it says "advanced crits encouraged". my only problem with this drawing is that his chest is a little too narrow. i wish you had extended it more to the left, under his armpit, and moved over the shoulder/arm part more off the page.
the detail is amazing though. i love his markings and the piece of jewelry he has is very awesome

I really love the detail and pattern of the stripes on the tiger's head. The effect of the picture being drawn on parchment is very nice too.

This is wonderful! The expression, I mean, those eyes have such a depth. Also, I rather like the chunky fur texture you used in this one. As for your scanner eating the detail--I'd be amazed to see what the real thing looks like! The 'eaten' version is incredibly detailed!!!

I absolutely adore the perfect, symmetrical patterns on his head - it looks more like tribal paint than it does natural markings, really adds a great element to this piece

a suggestion though: maybe the shadow under the necklace could have been a tad bit darker? I guess the scanner also tends to make black colour seem lighter than it's originally supposed to be, unless it is jet black colour created by technical pens and markers.

The snout is very white and doesn't look very furry, at first look I thought it was rather metallic-like. Is this intentional?

Yes..the actual idea behind the piece was intended for a painted version where the face looks as if it is emmerging from a voice of black..the body drentched in shadow..still visible but only barely..so most of the focus would be on the face where the light falls heavy

think it'll do for painting. something with the body feels a bit odd here, but nothing that couldn't be fixed with a bit of paint. otherwise nice to see some new cats
