Description
And what you thought you came foris only a shell, a husk of meaning
from which the purpose breaks
only when it is fulfilled.
- T.S. Eliot
I know I haven't submitted anything in a while; I've been experimenting with some sketches and things I didn't deem worthy of posting. This was an exhausting project, so it took me a while.
Another futile attempt to capture a holy moment, inspired by the words of my cosmic other:
I can't escape what these eyes have seen!

Thanks, I appreciate that. This is one of the pieces I've been considering redoing as my style as changed (and hopefully gotten cleaner) since these days...but I don't know. It was very emotionally exhausting to create. It's on the to-do list I guess!

this has gotten a lot of comments, but I am drawn to it (pun). I can see what you mean, i think our line drawings have a similar sentiment. lovely

Very mystical .
I like the black one too.
I my humble opinion, what would be better than each one would be the two of them as a diptych, but with some added little difference in the pattern.

it's interesting that you say that. the black version is going to be featured in an upcoming publication and is to be shown in an exhibit; the director requested both versions to appear side by side as an expression of unity or something (i like your idea better), but I'm afraid the white on black is only the inversion of the original piece. i'm working on a triptych now where i use similar patterns and details to create cohesion without making them uniform.

May be if you have access to some imaging software you can edit scanned versions a little bit to make them a little different. Adding a third piece is good, too .

Yes! This is incredible. You have an amazing talent for interweaving psychedelic detail, and I think it is particularly powerful when you contextualize the patterns within some other framework... especially one as transcendentally powerful as this. I'm adding this to my favorites, and unlike some of my other favorites which were chosen for their randomness - I REALLY REALLY REALLY love this work.

Wow, thank you so much! It's so rewarding to connect with someone through my art, and this piece has particular significance to me. As you can probably imagine, it's very intimate. Thank you for taking the time to comment and add the fav, I really appreciate it! Incidentally, this drawing is going to be published in a literary magazine and shown in an exhibit this week!

Wow this is a fantastic design, the beams from the eyes that make the framed pieces is just brilliant. Trees as arms, the electronic parts for the frame, you amaze me

Great design and drawing. That radiating vision is spectacular! The inverted one is interesting as well.

Copying isnt an issue here. I feel like we are comrads. I am looking more at the drawing and am just blown away how aligned our messages are. Maybe we can work together on a project/drawing some day.

It was difficult to decide which version I like better, and I feel this version is best, because it is the original drawing without the ps manipulation. Maybe I just have a sensitive spot for traditional drawing with minimal ps interference.
You have managed to depict what is clearly some kind of profound or mystical experience- truly visionary - and I can totally relate to the symbolism. The arm-branches, the eye beams, the technology border- speak of things that I attempt to bring together. The union of technology and nature is becoming more significant in a lot of visionary art, as it is pointing to a crucial necessity of the future of our world; I think many of us are picking up on this. The eye beams are such a clear powerful symbol - especially how they unite with the frame- it creates a sort of symbolic loop from center to border, and back again. It is uncanny how much this resembles my drawings "Event Horizon" and "Voice of Silence" (I suggest you take a look at them - our drawings bounce off each other quite well.)
I think the drawing is very successful - speaking a message of the perennial philosophy while using fresh symbolism. I had an initial "wow" reaction when I first saw this; I really like it. I cannot help wondering how you could enhance your drawings with some color.

Greg, as always your thoughtful comments are appreciated. And yes, we do have similar styles. "Event Horizon" and "Voice of Silence" are favorites of mine...discovering Alex Grey early on in my career as an artist (and I would expect for you) has powerfully influenced my work. I was not copying you, never fear! I suppose it's difficult to break away from the most potent symbols to represent reality, which is why I keep coming back to the circuitry and the organic. It is true that we are increasingly becoming, as my friend says, "hippie computer people." I'm glad you liked the border as well, that is exactly the sensation I was attempting to evoke. So thank you, again and again! By the way, your figure drawings for that workshop were fasincating, very beautiful.
