Description
This is a commission started by the about a year ago. Unfortunately, I have been contacted and told that they will be cancelling all breast expansion animation from here on out. Now, I thoroughly respect that decision and want to take a moment and say that this studio has been very thorough in communicating with me about any problems they have had along with how the project was progressing. The studio also proved time and time again that they had ... and still do ... my trust. There are quite a few artists out there who have earned this level of trust from me. I do highly recommend them. Many of you might remember some of the work they did for me. For the animation of the Princess giggling and expanding, they did an awesome model sheet and a couple of rough sketches for her look as they had interpreted my designs. A good bit different and with a more softer tone to her usual look. And, as I told them, I was completely fine with this ... I believe there was a bit of concern that I might cancel the project over that, but I told them that I was happy with how the work progressed.

Now, while I'm not sure, this posted here was the last file that I was sent last night on the completed work of the project. A rather simple and very adorable sequence of her giggling. Personally, I love it.
Yes, yes, yes ... I know that she's more animated in the preview and, while I'm checking with the studio, this might be as far as these fine folks made it. If anything changes, I will post it. Please, be patient with them.

If you look in the artist's notes, you'll see that did this and used Photoshop to do the animation work.

I did see this animation a while back, without the color I believe.
This is a joyful sight to see.

They both turned out super.

No, that was the reason that the project was cancelled ... the artist did NOT wish to do any more breast expansion work.

It is what it is ... the artist is honest enough not just to tell me but to refund the money too.

Me too, darling ... me too. Like a few out there are those who could attest to the fact that they have lost money to artists who cannot or will not deliver. They have given these artists a good bit of their hard earned money and walk away laughing at them. But, I can add that I've had a few who have told me, "Fuck you. I'm not doing the work. I don't feel like it." Well, they felt like taking the money from my Paypal account, money I worked hard for. One such artist gave me a pretty damned good sob story about needing the money to help his mother ... even had one who was crying about a beloved pet. I've fallen for all of them.
Now, I'm not sure how rare I am, but I pay up front and in full for almost all of the projects I have commissioned since a royal screw up on my part back in the late 1990s. I ended up unintentionally skipping out on a seriously expensive commission to which I have never felt good about doing so. Ten years later (or so), I went back to the artist and, after a half dozen or so e-mails, I convinced him to allow me to pay him in full, to make this right. He got the money order and, while we have not spoken too much since, I think of him as one of the best.
I promised myself that I would always do right by people, just like I used to. That also means it often leaves open and vulnerable to the more devious, maladjusted, and problematic artists. Oh well ...

I suppose there are more who fall into the category of honest than those who fall into the other category, but it really only takes one to ruin the rest I suppose and I've had quite a few. It's just harder to stick out your neck for more expensive commission work especially when payment is requested up front after you've been taken advantage of.
It really sucks to not be able to do anything about it except maybe warn off others from making the same mistake.
Either way I suppose ya can't dwell on the past and that it's more important to think of the cool you get from those who aren't on the negative side of things. And I wouldn't have met some of the cooler artists had I not taken the dives in the first place.

Oh, I've had my share too ... and those reading could probably share their stories. See, in business, often you hear the bad more than the good. are a collection of marvelous people in my book. That's all I need to know. But with the postings of their works, I also want to show just how good there work is, even if incomplete.
Mm ... I have had people ask me to name and shame those artists and, believe me, I did warn these people who do that sort of thing that I would. A few finished the works owed, a couple did not. Why? I couldn't say. With these, I just tell people to be careful and maybe ... just maybe drop a name or two.
Agree. Take your victories and pleasures where and when you can.

I mean I haven't got any problems with L3 at all. If I ever wanted some animation work I'd definitely consider them that's for sure. I definitely like what they did with your character for sure. She's adorable!
I only used the 'artists beware' website and such if someone was particularly malicious. After that though I wouldn't witch hunt someone for being a bit negligent especially if it's only one time it happens. I more so just worry for others who might fall into that trap is all.

Just wanted to be sure about that, honey. have been really great to work with.
Trust me, I'm right there with you. Recently there was a problem with who got another DA user upset, , for taking an inordinate amount of time on the commissions (and possibly without much communication too.) While I tried to be a bit of a "braking system" to the understandable and possibly self-righteous slamboree that was happening, I can understand the anger too. This is one of those examples that you mentioned before ... it's easy to jump on the band wagon, but it's hard to stop.
I have run into the dilemma of what to do after being screwed. Keeping others from getting what you go helps, but what if the artist changes? Doesn't they deserve a second chance?

I wouldn't really do anything towards someone who hasn't, at least somewhat indirectly, wronged me in some way and I wouldn't act based on someone else's opinion. I tend towards forming my own.
If an artist wishes to change, would they not start by trying to make amends? I would never just up and yell at an artist first chance I got, that'd be just plain rude. I've been disappointed a few times by deliveries that didn't live up to the quality I came to expect of an artist. That either just made me not commission them again or just think before doing so especially if requesting changes was denied or any complaints went unheard. If you accept money from someone to do something then you're at the very least morally obligated to do it(and lawfully in a good deal of situations).
Of all the issues I've had over time I've only ever really been upset with a small number of them and even then only ever done something directly once. Even after the fact it was less about anger and more about being informative; Giving testimony to my experience and showing evidence of the wrongdoings and failings of the artist. At that point it was less about me getting revenge and more about avoiding letting someone else have that happen to them. I would try everything I could to make it work out with an artist before doing anything rash even if I felt the artist wasn't trying to 'meet me in the middle' so to say. It's not like most are actively trying to rip you off. Forgive me if I sound bitter.

Nope, I gotcha there, honey ... all of these are good points, but that last one is very well said. Not sure that I would do what you did (or have done), but I cannot blame you at all. Most of the screws that I have gotten by artists have been over things that are about $30-$60 at the most, but the three I had to take to task were in the neighborhood of $150-$200 and that the money was paid for in advance.

MitaTell In reply to BalloonPrincess [2017-04-26 05:25:21 +0000 UTC]
That's understandable and yeah I've had a couple that were in the lower price range and I think I only ever made one bad purchase at I think $250-$300 advance and the artist later claimed it as a donation, which was untrue.
Anyhow, I really wasn't trying to say anything bad particularly about L3, more just that I am disappointed to see that it was dropped since I personally was kinda looking forward to it myself, even though it wasn't as though I paid for it. But it's none of my business in that regard and I certainly wouldn't think any less of them.

While it started with the disappointment in those artists, it also got enhanced by the price and the money that was spent on these fools. Maybe someday, I'll settle up with them, but probably I will not ... as mean as I'd like to sound, I'm not.
Gotcha. And thanks again.
