No I just used those colors as I was creating the sprite. I recolored him to match Bowser better when the sprite was finished.

Just for the removal of everything but the traces (step 3) and for recoloring (step 10). The rest I do in MS Paint.

At least for me, yeah. I make the Goku and Vegeta sprite in the same way, if that's what you mean.
