Description So whilst I was laid up with Covid I was feeling pretty low and just needed to do something that was a little more creative. Don’t get me wrong, I love drawing female muscle tutorials and references but it takes a lot to deconstruct what I’m doing and try to represent it in an educational format and my brain just couldn’t make that work during the last week.

So I went back to my roots a little. The first ever full 20 page issue Comic I drew was for and it was a one shot of their title Sorority of Power. The issue focused on the muscular female character Crush and was affectionately titled ‘Crushed’ thereafter.

Once that was published Dan from Argo very kindly sent me a bundle of existing Argo Comic issues, including Sorority, Argo 5 and the Anthology issues, whereby I sat and binge read them and started to become familiar with the rest of the Argo character roster. Over time I started to wonder how I would draw these characters and so I started just putting my own spin on this vast range of her and villains.

And that’s what this is. Although they’re only head shots, it was just a bit of fun to ‘Bambs’ up some of these designs and get some practice at the same time. In all fairness, all the designs are faithful to the originals except the robotic character, Destructo, which I may have ‘jazzed’ up a bit. 😬

Efretti: I don’t know much about the character but monster types are always fun to draw. He’s super strong and the physique reflects that, so drawing the trapezius muscles round the back of the head really sells that look. Even though he’s a hero, he’s got that intimidating look with the yellow irises in the black eyes.

Green Goliath: Has a kind of Hercules look about him. I loved the Viltrumite idea in Invincible that all the male characters had moustaches, creased me up that this was a kind of expression of manliness. So this is my attempt to capture that look.

Destructo: The premise is that his story is recounted from an incident in the past, so I wanted him to look kinda classic/vintage automaton. I’m a massive fan of Invincible so there’s elements of Robot from there but also Iron Man, the Iron Giant and I guess even the 1927 film Metropolis.

T-Max: Another Mega Strength type of character, human unlike Efretti at the top so I kept the neck bulky but not over the top.
