Any PBR engine can achieve photorealism, but other engines, such as vray, cycles, octane, arnold, etc, have more tools than iray and that gives some advantages. They also require more work.

I export obj to 3dsmax, i do here all material work.
Iray have a unique SSS material and the same textures on other engines may not work good. For exampleΒ Victoria8 diffuse have between 75-85 of luminance that's very high, G8F base 65-75, Amira 75-85, for add some context to these values white concrete have 85 of luminosity or snow the most bright material in world 95. With iray may work but other engines need more normal values between 40-50 for standard skin.

Of course those values are only an orientation, not a rule.
