I wanted somewhere to put this info down 8D Changed the name from Mud Dogs back to their original name.

Closed Species!

-Predatory species, very gluttonous. They are omnivores that will eat mostly anything when hungry, but they vastly prefer the taste of meat over vegetation.

-Named for their bark-like noises and their long-distance howling calls, and as they are quite fond of the sound of language more intelligent species use, but incapable of actually speaking. They often go up to other (terrified) creatures and attempt to "speak" to them (balablabbebarkbarkbababalab) which inevitably ends with a frustrated dog and thus, the death of the other party.

-Their size varies greatly, and they continue t grow long into adulthood. Around 2' tall when born, and reach maturity at about 8'.

-They dig into the mud in marshes and swamps to cover themselves (this is usually how they sleep, to avoid detection from other dogs which are, in fact, quite cannibalistic) and rub it all over everything (trees, rocks, etc) to mark territory. They also collect flowers and shiny/colorful things and "glue" them all over the place with mud when looking to attract mates. More colors and shiny stuff = higher status. Mud dog "dens" look quite bizarre, with mud flung everywhere and then a layer of colors and stuff slapped right over that.

-Their long necks and stature are so they can stay in their marsh/river homes during floods, and also easily cross rivers and fish in large bodies of water. Claws can be used to dig into dirt/sand or grip rocks or plants underwater to keep from being swept by currents. by inflating the sacks on the side of their necks they can store air and stay underwater for long periods of time(they are ambush predators underwater, attaching themselves to the ground and waiting for a large fish to swim close) They may also crouch and hide in murkier rivers/lakes and wait for something to come close enough for a drink.

-Pyxie Babbledogs are a much smaller subspecies (Very small at birth, but continue to grow late into adulthood like their larger kin) Growth slows dramatically once the reach about a foot in height. They're excellent climbers, and insectivors. Commonly kept as pets by weavers and other intelligent species, and a number of domesticated variants exist. Tiny cute bitey/yappy/grabby things!
