It is a sad reality that a world full of beings who can do so much good is also filled with the opposite. Judge a plant by its fruit, this is what our societies have created, filth. I agree this is a sad reality we are all human beings and deserve to be treated as such my love and compassion goes to these families and everyone on this planet who doesn't see depth of what we have the privilege of merely looking and not living.

Yes, I really hope everyone is aware of the crisis we're having right now. But when people remain completely apathetic to it, or even go to the point of laughing at it, where will we even end up? Imagine if you were these people, walking through a dump in you're hometown and where you live is below the poverty line, how would you feel if some spoiled weeaboo in a first world country was laughing at you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tsumugi-Chan In reply to fellenwort [2010-11-12 04:53:19 +0000 UTC]

lmaoo i'm a weeaboo now? ok xD
you're a hypocrite. you know that, right? everybody showing sympathy for these people need to be spat on. we did this. we are the cause of all this pain and suffering in the first place. sure you may showing remorse for these people right now but you aren't about to make any changes in your life to make the world a better place

I see lots of animu in you're gallery and you're username has "chan" in it.

You know nothing about my life. I lived in an earthship up until recently and I make an extra effort to save energy. I only own a few items that are actually new, everything else I own is used or borrowed. I'm not denying it's our fault, but I'm definitely going to do something to change it. I unplug all my electronics when I'm not using them and I do my best to take public transport.

~Thank U for reminding us the other side of humanity(hope it does changes something in the thinking of all who see it)! ~& yet again a Magnificent art, with a tremendous message

This picture is incredibly saddening. No one ever seems to notice, nor care, about the fact that people like this do exist and have to live off of such conditions. And the landfill by itself is saddening to see because in reality, there are millions more of these around the world. People need to understand the concept of reducing and recycling the things they use, because Earth can only take so much.

I couldn't agree with you more. We need to stop being such massive consumerist, and reduce, reuse, and of course recycle more things than we do. We need to stop creating such huge landfills that pollute our oceans. The less things we throw away, the smaller our landfills will become.

I know they're trolling but to all those people who think this isn't sad at all, try and imagine doing this to scrape your food together, and imagine the smell.. that should help you realise it.

All in all a brilliant photo to put people back in their place and think about other's and what we're doing to this planet for a while!

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

nk-chan In reply to Orochimarisu [2010-11-11 20:43:05 +0000 UTC]

Imagining that it was me makes it seem LESS sad. Yeah, so it's a nasty job, but we have lots of those here. Sewage plants, garbage pickup, etc. If that's your job, you get used to it. There's no reason to feel sorry for yourself. I mean yeah, there is a problem (a BIG one) and we should keep working to fix it, but it's not sad that people are digging through trash. Trash is just stuff (like any non-trash stuff) that someone else didn't want. But people always talk about how unimaginably SAD it is. It just seems so TWISTED, this whole pity thing. It seems like a way to alienate yourself from people in other cultures. "Oh look at those poor little things."

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Orochimarisu In reply to nk-chan [2010-11-11 20:54:46 +0000 UTC]

I don't necessarily pity them, I'm sad the world is like this.

And,... you're seriously comparing working at a sewage plant in the USA with this 'job'? My guess is you'd get LOADS more paid for working at a sewage plan in the USA then doing this... loads more being able to actually buy luxury goods, this doesn't. BarceloDan didn't go there to hand these people rice for nothing, you know?

skuzigraphic In reply to Orochimarisu [2010-11-11 13:02:31 +0000 UTC]

that term trolling is beginning to anger me.

My comment states the obvious. I do hope you mean recycle and get a wage. This isn't to gather food, due to the size of them collection bags. Yes they are probably on a poor wage but it's a job

The picture is fantastic.

You're the troll

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Orochimarisu In reply to skuzigraphic [2010-11-11 13:28:30 +0000 UTC]

If it's angering you, why do you use it yourself?
How blatantly ignorant are you if you truly believe that?
I'd suggest you take a look at BarceloDan's gallery before you spout more nonsense.
These people collect stuff so they can sell it to buy the little food they need to keep alive. All they hope for every day is to find enough to get that food and stay alive.
How is that not sad?

Besides I didn't mean you personally but all who think that if you're born somewhere poor, having a poor life is alright. That those kind of people don't deserve any better because they don't know any better. people have dreams... you know.

skuzigraphic In reply to Orochimarisu [2010-11-11 13:32:36 +0000 UTC]

I used said term in the same context, so why not.

I have looked at his gallery and it's all good.

They are doing a job indeed. I don't find it sad because it's the reality of life.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Orochimarisu In reply to skuzigraphic [2010-11-11 13:39:47 +0000 UTC]

Are not even remotely sad that while you're typing on a computer, or laptop, these people will never own one, in their entire life?
I'm not talking sad every minute of every day, but just now and then?
(Besides they really live there as well, as you could've read)

To be fair, I don't think I've ever used the term troll before...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

skuzigraphic In reply to Orochimarisu [2010-11-11 13:42:39 +0000 UTC]

thank goodness you're not a nasty.. i've been defending myself all day in another arguement at work lol

Parts of me do think it's sad but the other side of me thinks it's a completely different culture and way of life, so not really... please don't think i'm a hate filled nasty, i'm basing my comments on my own findings in life.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Orochimarisu In reply to skuzigraphic [2010-11-11 13:49:07 +0000 UTC]

Yes yes~! I understand, I rather have someone with opposing ideas and thoughts then someone who's 'trolling' for the fun.
We can't all share our opinions, and it's what keeps our society interesting.

At the end of the day, I mean no one harm, and I hope you have a good day! ^_^
