The pipe at the bottom being too light is PURELY subjective...Especially since no singular direct light source is defined throughout; secondarily since the background is not defined as an actual known object, ...(yes it *could* be a large metal plate...but it also cleverly serves as simply an abstract coloring).... and as such means everything within the work is suspect to reality... which then includes light sources themselves.
Therefore the color or the pipe becomes first and foremost becomes a matter of tonal balance and spatial breakup in a subconsious abstract manner under the simplest rules of any good painting...
i like it as it stands...

ummm up at the top of your browser... where it says "view" ....click on that and you'll get a drop down...look for "see pipes " and click on that.

I actually tried to darken it a bit and the darken/lighten brush would only lighten! My only concern was that the pipe might be overwhelming the main subject a bit. But karma sez different, so fuck it, on to the next mess. thanks for the thoughtful comment and collectivization. great quote from Nietzsche, too!

That kinda junk happens when you have interposing blend modes on i think ... Check and make sure you blend mode is set to normal on the working layer and if it still doesnt work you may have a blend mode turned on, on an above or below layer, that is dictating what happens
on the working layer... So try turning every layer to normal...fixing what you want and then turning the blend mode for each layer back on respectively.

My only suggestion is to darken the pipe at the bottom of the picture. It looks too light for the scene.
