As I was scrolling through the photos in your gallery one by one, this one really made me stop in my tracks. I love that you have a certain wide, open approach to the way you photograph landscapes, yet I really connected to this one with its hushed, closed space opening to a more expansive one. I think it's the fact that there's layers to the composition but in an unusual way. You weren't afraid to place the tree in the center and let the little hills and the roots do the rest. Just beautiful!

Oh weird, I saw the thumbnail for this, and went 'I recognize that tree!" Because I'm sure I have a photo of the same one from when I went to New Zealand. I can't remember where I took mine, and I don't have the photo with me, but I'm sure it's the same. trippy....
Anyways, the photo. Brilliant job with the lighting, it really creates a sort of mystical atmosphere. I really like it.

Amazing picture!
I love the central tree - it looks so gnarled and weather-beaten, yet resilient and strong; it's got a lot of character. The water and the rocks in the background look mysterious and somewhat ethereal. I love the soft, warm, golden light everything is bathed in; it makes me think this is a little part of heaven.
Beautiful picture; wish I could visit there, too. Great eye, great editing!

If I was judging this contest this would be the top runner presently, this is an impeccable photograph and I am sure you could get docked for some things, but if you did not blow out the highlights this picture would not have its character and atmospher. This is a wall hanger here, and I can very much see why this is one of your favorite places. I wish I could manage to get something this great in the midtonmnes at my favorite places LOL Being a walker of the dark is a hard thing, LOL I walk in the dark and shoot in the dark, and though novel most of my work lacks the thumbnail value and warm emotional impact oof this. very nice image and I am pretty certain you are going to fare well in this contest, best regards,
