I hope it's not TOO dark but I mean...that's how Payback's best rendered...eventhough he's scared of the dark

SAW WHAT I DID? Talking about the drawing itself before going back for some lore about him hehe

Payback's a pretty dark character, but he loves bright lights and neons, hence why his car form has neons everywhere lol

Makes me laugh knowing how Payback was born as an OC because I LOVE Need For Speed games

And when I was a kid I just adored Need For Speed Carbon. And there was SO many cool music in it.

I remember playing NFS Heat with my bud Thunds when I created a Mazda, the RX7 to be precise. My fav car ever. And I made a design I just adored and I was like

damn that looks so cool i want to draw it

But then I was like

maaan but I probably suck at drawing car, it's complicated and everything...so I had to make a design for a humanoid form...and Payback was born first try like that.

Next step was finding a theme song, and so I remembered a few songs from Carbon. I wasn't sure which one I wanted to take, so I asked Thunds, who chose Are Friends Electric, by Tubeway Army.

Next thing I knew, Payback became one of my (if not) BEST design I ever made.

He vibed with Kavinsky, dark waves synthwave synthpop music.

Drive, mysterious calming in love entity, like the way Ryan Gosling portrayed the Driver.

Japan, pink and blue.

Gary Numan, emo, dark and antagonist.

He's dead, but alive.

Ghost, Machine.

Sad. Romantic...before he died.

Thief.

Which was how he ended up like this. He stole a car that ended up killing him in a car accident. His soul fused with the wreck, and they became one.

Violent, but touching, he was also inspired by Christine, by Stephen King. Driven by love, hating for love.

Jealous. Fearless. Quiet.

I could talk days about him.
