Description So after all the preliminary work here is the final result. Of course along Rosemary I could not resist putting a few cameo appearances by my characters into background along with myself. In the end I was very happy that the client was so patient with me since I started on the final colors of this picture right when BackBreaker Studios crashed and burned. This unfortunately put me in the worst case of artist funk I had ever experienced. Eventually I was able to overcome it and finish this commission.

As usual for me the piece is a mixed media collection of colored pencils, marker, technical pen and gouache on vellum finish Bristol Board. Image size is about 16"x 22". I hope you have found this start-to-finish presentation interesting.

I like the way this came out. Detailed in fur, machinery and clothes. The detail of the little mouse at the motorcycle's wheel is awsome too. Love it e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/> The color is well thought out and the detail with the people in the background is good.Well done wih the shading and highlighting. The background came out pretty good.Although it seems that everybody kind of has the same hair style, like that fluffy part of the front hair looks similar to most of the others in this art.In overall you did a good job on this peice of artwork and keep up the awsome work.

Ok, for a moment, I thought that you had gotten the front brakes on the Buell done wrong in this image, but after seeing the image with the bike that this drawing is based off of, I realize it is correct for the bike you modeled this after. (From the look of the bike, it is the last generation of the Buell Lightning, but the later Buells, as well as the EBR Racing bikes that came after, had a single perimeter mounted disk, as opposed to two hub mounted ones.)

I am curious now as to where the owner of the bike got the front end from, as in from what bike?

As for the overall drawing, it came out flawless!

The front end is stock Buell, the X-1 was the top of the line in 2000 when I bought it. The front brake rotors are called "Wave" style and are made by a company called "Braking"

Thats an X-1? Thought it was a later model.
I'd like to get myself a Buell. Thinking the 900cc Lightning, with the Thunder bodywork on the front, the cg lowered suspension, and a 4" bore kit.

I should have recognized that as being an earlier model, where there is someone here in Waterville who rides around on one.

Oops! Hit the wrong button! What I meant to say is I don't remember where Dusty got the brake rotors.

Brake rotors were aftermarket, and it has been so long since I worked on piece I cannot clearly remember where

Fascinating to see it all come together, and it makes sense now, why you charge so much for commissions. I do mean this as a compliment.

Baron-Engel In reply to RoboMattias [2014-03-21 03:52:44 +0000 UTC]

That was part of the reason for doing these postings was help people understand what goes into some commissions and why they can cost so much.

Warning!
Bike nerd nit-pick

Buells had the belt drive replaced with a standard racing chain and sprocket for easier gearing ratio changes.

The fact that I can tell it still has the belt drive is a testament to your attention to detail and expert renderings.
Good work!

Most mice would not do what Brandy is doing in this picture for exactly that reason. However certain headstrong, confident, and thrill-seeking mice and rats will mingle amongst bigums like this.
