To a Toad (To a Louse Parody)

Oh, what’re you doing, you silly phibie?
Your hidey hole protects you, surely
But I’d say you'd tumble rarely
Into a storage case
Although, I fear you’ll dine but sparely
In such a place
You lovely, green and bumpy, bugger
Misunderstood by saints and sinners
Who barely e’er lay hands upon your
Fine, soft belly
She'll get you out to seek your dinners
Of bugs, so tasty
Then swiftly upon pests settle
Then you can feast, and croak, and prattle
Telling all your kindred of your battle
Trapped with no rations
Where futile leaps tested your mettle
With dire frustrations
So, there you lay, well out of sight
Within black cables, snug and tight
Hunkering sadly in your plight
Until she saw it
And lifted you past that towering height
That trapped you in it
How boldly now you cavort about
As wild and free and any knows it
Now that its prison does not enclose it
In toad conundrums
Trapped by such towering walls around it
Depressed and glum
