Description
You will need to hit Download in order to see all the finer details of the design. The oldest in my nBSG series of fan-designs. Also my one and currently only attempt at creating a non-symmetrical design. Kinda works, kinda doesn't (especially the back end of the 'gun pod'). I already have gone over a LOT of its errors both with friends, fellow designers, and got a reaming by my graphic arts professor.
In my mind its the one of the last ship's built prior to the introduction of the Battlestars. It was also the largest ship (class) built before the Battlestars as well. The designers wanted to keep the flight deck/pod as far from direct line of fire as possible. So while the defenses are equal all the way around, all the heavy guns & missiles are on the other pod. Also mounts two super-heavy cannons as well - one in the nose, and the other at the front of the gun pod.
BSG (2003-2007) is of course NOT mine. Artwork however is.

A question. (and possibly a nasty one)
Why didn't you mount the super-guns sideways in the Gunpod? (as in, they fire out the side of the ship, instead of forwards)
That way, you keep the flight pod entirely out of the enemy's sights. (unless they get to the side with the flightpod, but by then you're probably screwed anyway)

Recoil. Running down the length of the pod allows not only more room for recoil then sideways. Also the Bellerophon's Fighter launch tubes run from the flight pod THROUGH the main hull and exit out the side of the gunnery pod, so they mean it when they kept the flight pod away from the line of fire, and mounting it sideways wouldn't help matters. Another reason is that while its off-centerline of the hull, its still pretty much going to recoil backwards along the ship's line of motion (if causing a yaw effect to one side from the off-center recoil), and its generally easier to point the nose at a target for accurate long range shots, then to swing to broadsides at long range. And the range the huge cannon can fire at, its far out of range of incoming anti-ship fire, so the flight-pod isn't really at risk.
However, in my timeline, the off-center spinal mount ended up having too many problems, which is why it was abandoned, and they went with the Triton prototype, and later the Galactica. Although obviously I do have asymmetrical designs, they don't generally have a huge main gun in them anymore, instead packing in smaller but more numerous turrets.
