It's a small chance but there's is the smallest possibility that Bon-chan got a second in the confrontation with Magellen where they lost sight of him. One second is all he would need to transform into a random guard and sneak out...possibly on the same ship that Magellen was ordering to come and take him after Strawhat Luffy.
IT's a small chance but it's possible. We will have to wait to see if Bon-chan is dead or alive. After all, we thought he was captured by Hina in Alabastra but had to wait until the mini-arc "Meet Baroque Works" to see he escaped her at the desert kingdom.
