I don't remember how this animation technique it's called, but basically you make a 2d "puppet", that you can manipulate to do the animations, and doing the animation doesn't take too long with this process, what takes more time is tweaking the parts and assembling the pieces of the "puppet".

In mine i added some hand variety to make it look cooler.

Oh I see. You used Spriter? Never heard of it before. It's interesting to know. I tried making animation by using Photoshop and saved it as gif. It looked more rigid.

Yup, i used Spriter, it's a really good program for making sprites, it could be better though, but the developers are working on spriter 2 and it's going to be freaking amazing . I have done animations on photoshop too, my avatar is one of them, and it's really difficult to get a nice flow in animation.
