And I know, right? It's... It's like quicksand. I stared at this piece for too long, and suddenly SHIPSHIPSHIPSHIP. Suddenly I, too, regret NOTHING. What have you done to meeeeeeeee
But seriously, it's not very often I come across a cartoonist whose work I can simply stare at for long periods of time and absorb things like line weights and light sources. I suppose it's because so many independent cartoonists recently seem to have gotten lazy with it, and rarely do I see this much care put into a craft anymore.
I also think it's a lot of your stylistic choices. I find that in my own work, I prefer simplicity when it comes to character designs, and specifically your monsters are THE BEST EVER. Is Amos your own character? He's so adorable.
Ah, but here I go complimenting and not really saying anything. I ought to spend some time on handing out a REAL critique to you. (Not sure where I'd start, really, but I can't just leave an artist I admire with nothing but gooey praise that has no concrete substance.) Also, did I read someplace that you went to SCAD? What year did you graduate (or have you)?

Amos is my character, yep! My poor neglected character, anyways hah. I should try and develop his story a bit more, but I'm not a very good writer lol.
And I did indeed go to SCAD! I graduated in 2006 and live in NYC now. Are you a Scaddie as well?

I almost was! I actually did the prospective-students summer course in 2006. But I decided my writing talent was greater than my artistic talent (I am notoriously slow at finishing anything) and warranted more study, at least for the time being.
I had a friend, however, who graduated in 2010. She finally decided animation was her calling, more specifically storyboards. I'm glad she actually got to go like she wanted. (We live kinda far away.)
And I'm not this sweet on DA unless I mean it. 
Now I really want to bug you to do something else with Amos! lol

It's one of those situations which just straddles that border in a brain aching way.
In all seriousness it's a quite nice picture. I love how you've retained that rough sketchy look into the final draft. It's also a nice touch making Whately resemble a more cartoony version of his voice actor as well. Best part of the thing though is the colouring- very crisp and vivid while still being complicated and sophisticated.
