Description
So, finally, I completed the next in my Numbers series. Well, okay, not actually the *next*, but... the one I was working on.Anyways, Cinque (MIDAS 3-009). She's one of the older Type 3 Combat Cyborgs from Jensen's Island, but is actually the youngest (survivor) of that group. This puts her in something of a middle ground between the 'Elders' and the new generation Type 3's created at the Cradle Base, and she found herself in the role of a mentor or even surrogate parent to her younger sisters - a role which she quite readily embraced, and continued to perform after their arrest following the JS incident. Physically, she is rather slight, at just under 1.5 meters tall, but she's about as 'old' as most of the numbers (the physical equivalent of 15 or so) due to a combination of her stasis after the Jensen's Island Massacre and their accelerated growth. More curiously, her right eye was damaged and blinded in combat against Zest Granweitz at Jensen's Island, and remains missing to this day - though such an injury could be easily healed or replaced even for a human, let alone someone who's already a Combat Cyborg. It seems Scaglietti made a point of not repairing it, perhaps as punishment for hesitation or as reminder of sorts, or for some more nebulous purpose - he never explained. Even after Scaglietti, however, she didn't seek treatment, keeping her wound as a memento of the first person she killed (and only person... until the invasion).
As part of Section 9, she retains her former role. Though officially only Subcommander of Hurricane Squad, her knowledge of the Number's capabilities - and more importantly, relationships - is invaluable. While Ginga may be in 'command', Cinque is at least as much their leader. Shown here in her TSAB-issued equipment, based around a Millenium ADK R-7 Light-mass Utility Device - normally used for engineering and remote manipulation, but heavily modified with refined, high-density psychoactive nanocrystals for rapid energy processing, and with additional structural and cooling improvements to make it-combat ready, to say nothing of the necessary modifications for SDE compatibility. This simple device meshes remarkably well with Cinque's combat style, which focuses on Karber throwing-knife techniques (and traces of Southern Mid-Childan Strike Arts). The R-7A readily serves to both conjure these small blades and manipulate them in flight. It can also serve defensive and support functions if necessary. Finally, it is physically unobtrusive, being little more than a bifurcated core mounted on gloves.
Protection primarily falls to Cinque's Barrier Jacket, an advanced (and expensive) system using an integrated high-density nodal mesh. Mana consumption is comparatively tremendous, but affordable due to both Cinque's large MPV and her combat style's low demand. It offers reliable defense against anti-personnel weapons, capable of readily sustaining 3-5 attacks in the .5 million MPV range (typical of B rank shooting attacks), and a measure of passive protection against even modern heavy weapons. With the invasion, it has, naturally, been tuned for optimum performance against directed energy weapons (lasers, etc), and with the typical 2-5 megajoule small arms used by the invaders, only saturation is a significant concern.
Physically, her Barrier Jacket consists of a bodysuit covering much of her body, under a large longcoat. Unlike a typical barrier jacket, each layer actually has a seperate emitter network, with the bulk of the energy consumed by the coat. These fields combine together to create an inner 'safety layer', hopefully preventing vital injury from a hit that penetrates the main barrier jacket. Projectors for hood coverage are subtly woven into the collar.
Given the R-7A's capacity to summon knives from storage, or even generate them from mana, the bandoleer across the chest is largely symbolic.
Sooo... this took... quite a while, but less than it *usually* did. There are probably problems I could fix, I'm really not happy with the shading on the boots, and... I can't seem to make the pose interesting dynamic. Anyways, I was trying a new coloring technique, and I think it worked quite well, overall... though I still need to work on things. I tried a full background, too, and while it's still simplistic, I also think that worked quite nicely. The laser scars should probably be darker, but still decent, I think...
